i've tried bios's with increased voltage and many others in this thread have too with no success, our bios doesn't even have a voltage table which means bios voltage adjustments aren't possible. i dont even think they have the hardware to allow changes in the bios.

i did try to mod my card but the diagrams that are floating around the net are a different layout to our cards and i haven't tried any testing myself.

So Spookywillow:
have you flashed your BIOS before? My newer card is still at 614.25 and %100 fan. I want it at least back to stock clock, but I can't get it there.
What revision is your card?

Ahhh... I'd love to test this out but all of the bios' here are pci-e and I'm running an AGP card. I've posted my HIS 256mb agp bios for Ketxxx to hex edit but he is either busy or does not want to mess with it (which is fine of course as he does this as a nicety to us). Hopefully somone will come along and mod it so I can at least try myself.

yeah i flashed mine ages ago, i sent you a pm and told you lol ;) the best thing i can suggest you do is to flash back to your old bios and just use a profile to set fans at 100% on boot. i'm sure kett had a some kind of problem with clocks being a bit lower than what he actually hexed in as im sure the bios i used had different clocks to what it should of had.

my card is rev1, i'm lucky i got a good one tbh after all the horror stories lol.

tom if you read the last 4 pages or so you will see that someone else wanted to do the same as you, theres an app called RaBiT, use that to change the fan speed and some other stuff and its an easy interface and not hex editing.

theres also the instuctions on how to dump your bios and to reflash it at the start of the thread ;)

I've already seen RaBit. I don't care about fan speeds as I'm on water as I've stated before. Unfortunately RaBiT won't let me adjust voltages like Ketxxx is doing via hex editing.

I've already dumped my bios and posted it here on page 43.

What I'm after is modified voltage. According to Ketxxx it is possible on some cards. His version 1.4 bios for XpertVision/Palit cards posted on page 39 has the voltage upped to 1.45 volts. Bottom line is I want to try it but I have no clue where to look in the bios for the voltage info.

as i said before, the his cards dont have the ability to change voltages via bios.

that is the reason why rabit wont let you adjust voltages ;)

The only way to try, would be to get another AGP BIOS that does have a voltage table.

Ket already said he's not doing custom BIOS' anymore like around 20 pages back.

As for NGO drivers, that's a bit of user-error. I can OC with any drivers from ATi. You just have to disable Driver Polling. I use ATi Tray Tools to set my card for 2D and 3D, to auto switch. Since I overclock to 641 in 3D, it saves my core a bit.

Sounds like a grand idea. Know anywhere I can get an AGP 256mb bios that has a voltage table?

I flashed the original too, and that kept my clocks at 614.25 as well. I'm going to try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling. I have Overdrive unlcoked, so maybe that's it. When I try to increase the requested clock it starts flashing, because it clocks both GPUs (Crossfire) and the rev. 1 card doesn't support Overdrive. I don't have time for this!
Oh well, it runs fine at 614.25, an OC all of the other vendors. Guess I can't complain if it's stuck here :\
I'm scared to flash my 1st rev. card to 661.5 and 810 on the memory, as I HAVE NO IDEA what will happen LOL (?) maybe not funny....

maybe what you should do is to take the bios from the rev.2 card and flash it upon the rev.1 card. It should work, and it might be better for crossfire as well, if you have them set up like that. Since crossfire benefits from having two exact identical cards, i think it would be better to flash the rev.1 card with the bios from the rev.2 card. Your crossfire improvement would not be much, maybe 1-2 fps improvement, but you would be able to overclock both of them at the same clock speeds. I think that it is better to have both cards running at the same clock speeds since they are in sync. For example, Card 1: Core 650 MHz, Memory: 770 MHz. Card 2: Core 650 MHz, Memory: 770 MHz.

REALLY bad idea, considering that the first card has VIVO, and it overclocks well. The newer one won't OC at all (at least I haven't gotten it to yet.) Also, the PCB layout seems to be different (besides the VIVO chip). The VRM heatsink is smaller on the first one, and I'm willing to bet that HIS turned the VGPU down on the second revision because some people are having issues with them running at the default clocks.
I would NEVER risk ruining a card just for 1-2 FPS! They are running fine for now, and I don't have that much time so I'm just going to stick with them how they are for now :D

ooops, sorry I didn't notice that they were different. I thought they were the same make and layout. What kind of Frames are you getting with these 2 cards

I don't know what just happened but when I was playing BF2142, suddenly the screen went black, and I rebooted and got the entire screen scrambled. The whole screen was filled with artifacts, and after a while i got it working again. Is there any way to fix this?

Also is the OCZ PowerStream 600 Watt Dual Rail PSU Good enough for this card?

I would keep an eye on your temps. If you say the problem just goes away after a while, then the card probably got hot and started stabilizing after it cooled off a bit.

NO way, the temps never get higher than 40 Celsius, I'm on water cooling, I have coppersinks on my Voltage Regulators and the Memory Chips. It works perfectly now, but it did this before, and it is starting to scare me, since it takes quite a while to get it working again. I played BF2142 for another like 3 or 4 hours after I got it working, and nothing happened, it didn't die on me. Also maybe because I enabled VPU Recovery back on, it might be stable? It is really questionable that in fact the most surprising thing I see here is that it is not a temperature problem. Also I get some textures out of place here and there in BF2142, they are always in the exact same places, even if I restart the PC and play again. I don't think it might be the card, because it doesn't do this in other games like NFS Carbon C&C 3 and Cellfactor.

Are you OCing it? I would say that it's the VRM overheating for either the memory or GPU. Keep your fan isn't at %100 24/7 then do it. Some of the Rev.1 cards aren't totally stable at 635, and I'm pretty sure that the VGPU was higher on the rev. 1 as well.

BTW I switched the Rev. 1 to PCI-E1 and OCed it! I don't know what the deal was, maybe it was the older driver. I was running Warcat 7.1 and 2 (tried both) and I couldn't set the driver level OC with ATI Tray Tools. Now with the latest 7.4 it OCs. Now if I can get the other card flashed back to stock then I'll be in business.

In BF2142 running 1920*1080 on my 37" Westinghouse, using these CCC settings:
Performance Adp AA
HQ AF app decide
AA app decides (don't really need it much)
Triple buffering enabled (OpenGL though)
72 KHz forced refresh
In game settings:
Everything on high except AA which is 2X

30-80 FPS :D AA is a real kililer with 1920*1080, and is really not noticable on anything except the grass (which has always been horribly coded in BF games)

3dMark scores with PCI-E1 OCed and default 3dmark06 settings, default CCC settings.

May you show us pictures of the GPU installed (this should be asked in the clubhouse btw.. its not a bios issue), try bolting two small 40mm fans onto it, make sure their quiet. You need at least some airflow.

How am I going to bolt on fans on the VRM? I have a temp probe on them, and max they hit is like 43 Celsius. I have enough airflow in my PC, I have one intake fan on the side, and another outake on the side. I think it is enough, but I have reduced my overclock from Core 675 to 670 and Memory from 820 to 810, it is much more stable btw.

I don't think anyone is. Ketxxx was, but last time I heard he was busy with other stuff. Very understandable, as work can consume some time! We all need our leisure time :D
