Consider yourself lucky. I owned four Vertex 3 120GB drives in four different systems, and three of them failed within a year all with the same symptom - they would power on but not be detected by the SATA controller. My Agility 3 240GB, however, is a completely opposite story and is still working after three years. Why the difference in lifespan; I don't know.

Back to the main topic, I have faith in Toshiba's products, and I hope for Toshiba's sake that they are keeping OCZ on a short leash.

Consider yourself lucky then. Go on Newegg and look at all the reviews on Ocz ssds with people bitching about high failure rates

Yep, I had 4 OCZ Vertex 4 drives - 2 of them failed after about a year, and 2 OCZ agility 3 drives - both of them died after just few month of use, I couldn't believe myself either, but OCZ is notorious for their failure rates.

yeah sometimes those reviews can make you laugh. They can talk like they think they know what they're talking about (like blaming newegg for something that was doa when it was really the prodcuts companys fault) then when you look, they have a "high tech level" and shit like that.

But when you have a LOT of people saying "this drive died on me in a week/month/less than a year, you know it's gonna be a problematic drive.

OCZ's problems were long over by the time they went under. Their issues were controller related with their first generation drives. Their choice to use unthrottled sandforce controllers didn't really work out that well for them, the controllers overheated and died quickly. Sadly it is clear their reputation never recovered.

I have two old OCZ SSDs and they're both still going strong.
