Gaming on consoles: surprisingly good

I don't like to put myself in one group or another. Bottom line is I'm a gamer. I love PC games, and I love console games. Certain games I tend to play on PC while other I tend to play on consoles. Thats why I keep my pc up to spec for glorious pc gaming and why I also bought a ps4 and xbox one at release.

I haven't voted because the poll is for current gen consoles however last gen (which i own) i would say 80%. The games i play on my PC are of the same age, if anything i can game on my console at higher resolutions then my PC can because it is so dated. My console probably cost me less then it would to get my PC into shape for modern games to game at HD too.

As I said, the PC offers bags more performance and options, but the console experience can still be decent.

Not much value to them at all to me as with the PS3 i only got about 4 games for it which i enjoyed but in the same time frame i enjoyed over a dozen pc games.

I think it is more instinctive than a true result. The way it is worded will make PC fans (which predominantly make up this forum) gravitate towards the lowest score possible. I refrained from voting because "not enough information."

One thing at least I have noticed with consoles.... is they provide a similar platform for all users to equally use, there are no hardware advantages.... For example back in the day when Call of Duty 2 multiplayer for PC was in its prime... If you had some of the newest hardware at the time, could average 200+ FPS with the proper graphics config set up.... you could achieve ALOT less recoil from a gun whereas if you could only average 40-60FPS even though it was a smooth frame rate, you would have more recoil from the same gun. I know this isn't a huge thing really.... but man was it noticable....(Especially for the competitive community.... ) I remember when I upgraded my computer finally and was able to get a constant 250FPS in the game, I really noticed a difference.

But really my point here is, if you want a similar rig for all people to play on, with no hardware advantages. Consoles are perfect for that.

Other than that, I hate controllers for FPS shooters, and I hate having all the restrictions of the console. They have their purpose tho.

Exclusives are the best... I still haven't picked up PS3, for some some old games, like ICO sequel, MGS4(I hope I will skip on that as it will be on PC). FF13 is a disaster currently on PC... And Killzone is on my wanted list...

There is a tool, instrument for each operation and job for homo sapiens that fits most, like an hand and a glove... Consoles IMHO is a must... but they will die out... mobile phones are getting stronger and stronger and those two platforms will melt, even now, if I wan't to get an odd kid silent, I take out my M8(I simply don't have a console anymore), BT attach a old PS3 joystick, and via MHL to TV, and let him have GTA3, Vice and San Andreas, or other less violent, there is more and more of them. And it works flawlessly... The experience from some old games like those is the same.

Consoles are good for sports and racing. They can also be a real good time at a party. But for FPS and other aim intensive titles... Nothing beats the head-shot accuracy of a good mouse/keyboard combo.

I wouldn't try to pin this down too hard either. My OP are my subjective experiences after brief exposure to the consoles and a couple of games. Everyone here is free to judge them in the same subjective manner in the poll and the comments.

I didn't vote because I still play on my gamecube daily, but at the same time hate the "next gen" consoles currently. I also whack out the PS2 occasionally to play Baldur's gate. I like console gaming a lot, just not modern console gaming, they took the fun out of it. Got a little too serious.

I have a N64, PS1 and Wii consoles. I have NO desire to leave the PC master race and drop coin on a next gen. console. The Wii is used for Netflix, but I did just get Elevator Action and Zaxxon on it. Those are 1982 arcade titles for those who don't know. I was dropping quarters to play them way back then.

I feel that consoles versus PC comes down to price. The less you can spend, the more appealing consoles become. If you add the cost of accessories and games, consoles quickly lose their edge.

So, as is the answer to all questions: "it depends."

Even the games are effectively not so much money if you're the type who usually trades in your games after you've finished with them, like my friends. It's a tricky one this though since it depends on the combination of several variables, so games prices remain an issue.

According to my experience with gaming PC and consoles. I think PS4 is best for the FPSgames, Sport games and RPGs games. PC is best for the RTS and MMO games.
