Does Adobe even offer a standalone flash player for Windows RT? I do believe Flash is baked into Internet Explorer on RT.

Just use Facebook from the web browser. Facebook doesn't need to be "downloaded" on a computer.

It is a computer. You have bought a computer.
Just install another web browser like chrome, it should have flash preinstalled and work fine. You do not 'download' or 'install' facebook onto a computer, you go to the website.

You can test on this page and get updates, too.
IE in Windows 8 has flash built in: however, you can install the latest version or beta versions manually.
But, if, you are using Windows 8 RT... I believe you can only get the updates through windows update on the tablet. Not totally sure on this, though.
Trying the updates can't hurt... it will just tell you that you can't or you have to do it through the windows update.

I believe the tablet uses RT which is far from being "full" Windows.

You're probably going to have to "Refresh" Windows. This basically means you will revert the operating system to its original state and you'll have to redownload all of the updates for it. I recently did this on my mom's Surface 2 RT and it worked to bring back her Facebook and Music apps. I suspect whatever bug affected her Surface is also affecting your Linx.
Windows RT and Windows Phone has Flash integrated. Have you gone through this guide which tells you how to enable it should it be disabled? There is a test button at the top of that page for Windows 8.
