Anyone use Microsoft Update on XP SP3 in the last few days?

Yep I look inside the muauth.cab in windows 8.1 and the Expiry date is in 2026.

If the MS fix did not work: then, one other thing you can try is running MBSA to see if it picks up on it and tries to update/fix windows update agent and the needed files.
Be sure to set the settings to use which servers and type of updates you want to use.

Unfortunately, MBSA accomplishes nothing besides telling me what I already know (updates missing). It doesn't provide any means to get them beyond telling me to go to Microsoft Update which subsequently gives me 0x80248015.


Edit: Looks like the only option is to wait for Microsoft to fix it...assuming they ever do.

Two computers out of seven managed to slip through the 0x80248015 error. The first did many days ago (18th I think) and the second did tonight. I have no idea how.

Check the dates in those cab files... if, the dates are different, try copying the files from the ones that work to the ones that don't.

90% sure Microsoft got it fixed. Microsoft Update is working again.

Edit: 100% sure it is fixed. Installing Windows Genuine Advantage previously forced Windows Update to Microsoft Update which was broke. I just had a computer run it and subsequently get updates from Microsoft Update without problems.
