Depends on how your memory slots are filled.

EDIT: Before you ask where each slot is on the board, the answer is on pages 8 and 9.

1= a2-b2 <<< most guys use this if the cpu tower cover A1
2= a1 b1 <<< use this if your using a self contained water cooler like the h120 or something like that
3= obvious a12-b12<<<<All four are being used .

Hey Seb let me know if you used that SATA Server power Save option on the board,I would be interested in that,Wondering if it causes wake problems stuff like corruption from it having power off then on again ? i could use that for at least 2 drives myself ,the backup drive and the drive i store my music on .

My question is not where the dimms on the MOBO that would be a dumb question and theres nothing on 8-9 about mem it pertains to all connections in general. You meant page 1 and 16.

Yeah 3 does kind of speak for itself. Got ya in my case im using a h100 so i have no clearance issue. Don't understand why they dont add an asterisk and explain the reason like you have. Thanks for the input. In reading about it I've read it gave ppl problems down the road. I'm never getting asrock mobo again. They could not explain in 10 mins what you have in 1 and other issues as well not to mention an accent so thick a machete would not suffice. ...."So does the part go to the left or right, left? righ... you mean right? no left. I guess they just heard of the whos on first and all i was asking do i plug the boot drive into SATA 0 or 3 (spot 12) when im sitting facing the mobo normally, purpendicular.

Sure, Im actually about to put in the mem now and GPU will go quick the wiring took for ever and i still have not address my "cooling" splitter/controller FAN issue, figure i'll do it later.
Im actually using the h100i and form what i read you need to change the bios to AHCI and disconnect other drives till win is installed (Im using SSD for first time so i'll listen to who ever posted that, but using norm HD you dont need to disconnect other HD)

BTW. Im gonna use it and use one HD for the short beginning as im not swapping out the drive from this computer till I know for sure the new one works.

Do you know if it will load/boot if only one HD is connected?

I understand the position of the slot the question was do i put the memory into a1-b1 or a2-b2 as the manual is a bit ambiguous
It is ambiguous because it doesn't matter.
