Yep. I have a 840 Pro 256. Haven't had one issue. Infact I set my other system up like this also with 8Gb ram it has a 840EVO 120Gb

Yeah i recall xp setting the paging to 2048/2048 and it would help, i thought 7 was better about paging size being handled automatically. We are in the same boat as of the ssd. The rest is amd cpu/chipset lol.

When you set all the stuff in the magician does it stick even if you shut the software off totally (doesnt run in background)?

My biggest pet peeve is having unnecessary background tasks running

Yeah also, Magician is a known cause to make games not run correctly. Well the game will still run, but it won't let you go into full screen mode. Its like some bug where its stuck in windowed mode and you can't do anything about it until you close Magician. I did set it up for Maximum Reliability as you said.

So yeah that is my question as well.... will the settings in Magician remain even when its closed?

I fixed mine. Needed the OS on the SSD. Not just game - derp to me - now have 10-15 second load screens

Should have swapped to an SSD a while ago. The annoying clicking from the HDD working was annoying me beyind belief. Now my computer's loudest parts are the fans and Disk Drive.

Should be half the amount of ram that is in your system technically, but depending on the amount of RAM you have, your system will likely never touch the page file, unless the app requires it.

Rapid mode, as far as I'm aware, just uses RAM caching. Good for benchmarks, not so wonderful for games. It might help, but not noticably.

I had tracked my swapfile usage for 3 months after upgrading to W7 and it never went beyond 1.5GB with 4GB of RAM. Ever since I've always set a 2GB maximum but I think that W8 uses even less swapfile, I think I've never seen it go above 500MB. You still need it for crash dumps though so I wouldn't disable it completely.

Its a default setting that should be changed, if you have a decent amount of ram (8-32gb) your literally just wasting space on your SSD. set the paging file to 2048mb, if you get sluggishness and stuttering setting it there you might have other issues with your machine, plus that extra space can be used for games or programs seeing as how windows likes to match the amount of ram you have for your page file size...

The bigger a drive the more swap space Windows uses based upon ram you have, mine was at 16Gib till I dropped it to 2Gib. No need for more than 2048-4096Mib. I'd set max and min to that to prevent unecessary rubberband writting/rewritting.

I've noticed that my setup uses a maximum of 1.5GB, and mostly sits at 1.2GB. This is with my 16GB of RAM, so it does seem that the pagefile is becoming less and less crucial with each new version of Windows.

Its funny ive set it to 2048 since the xp days when i had 2Gib of ram.

I couldn't tell you if it needed more back in the XP days, but I used to set it to 4096, and XP loved to use most of it. Probably you're right, if I had set less it would have used less.

So here is how mine is set. Notice if it says "Activate" it is disabled

If I remember I clicked on Maximum Reliability and then changed the Page file to 2 Gb

if you are using Windows 7 or 8/8.1 there is really no need to change anything when using an SSD. With first Gen of SSDs people like to disable prefetch, indexing, and all that, but its not necessary anymore. It'll likely cause some problems down the road. Better of leaving the OS alone, even page file.
