Been away for a few hours just to come back and find out I still have a chance. So, one of my early memorable moments in PC gaming was hiding in this huge kind of a forest on a hilly terrain and watching down, some creatures roaming near a facility. What to expect? Then, a few good years later on hot summer afternoons, early evenings pretending to be in Africa and driving a jeep through endless savannas. Last year, or was it two years ago, only my son played all of FC3. This time I'm in.

I have all the FC except 4. Yes FC3 is awesome, but my favorite part of the series is from the 1st game. At the beginning, when on the rusty shipwreck, when I got in the inflatable raft and motored off I thought that was just brilliant. It looked so sharp and the new concept was awesome.

Wow, what an awesome giveaway! Count me in!
I remember playing Farcry 2 with my friends over lan, it was hilariously fun burning the dead grass with the flamethrower and exposing one of my "camper" friends. We also had a few maps of our own made with the map editor, those were really fun times!

Thanks a bunch for the giveaway!:respect:

That makes me want to replay it again I think I'll give it another tonight and be reminded how good it was. I do remember the corny lines and bad voice acting in most of Far Cry 1

Just jumped in to add to the conversation a bit, as I already have the game. Used to spend hours finding ways to beat each level of Far Cry on the hardest mode no scratch. Made tons of videos of it. Was struggling to learn video making back then so I only have about 4 levels done in avi in good quality. I made a few stunt ones too sniping while hang gliding and such.

Aside from being an environmental graphics breakthrough for it's time, Far Cry also offered lots of exploration. In some cases, like in the River and Swamp levels, there were places you could go that were not intended playing areas. It's possible to gain high ground at the end of River and snipe from above, and even climb out of the starting area of Swamp and scout ahead to kill mercs before taking the gauntlet Hummer drive.

Here's a comedy short I put together using one particular buggy animation I encountered in the Boat level, with some of the game audio dubbed in.

Here's the Factory level done no scratch on Realistic.

Congrats to whomever wins. Far Cry 4 is a great game to play on the holidays.

But I do like this kind of game. I only played little bit FC3 and not really played. I like this role playing games with like some puzzles to do. Same as the tomb raider games.

Anyway, thanks @manofthem for the awesome giveaway. And congratulation to whomever wins. I think it is one of the best game to play :peace:

Definitely count me in on this one!

I remember first playing Far Cry 1, it was definitely eye candy to the extreme when it first came out. My P4 2.4GHz paired with my 9700 pro handled it pretty nicely. The atmosphere is what made it look so amazing. Anyway, when I started playing it I remember it being a bit humorous the first time around. For instance, when you took out your binoculars and zoomed in on an enemy base, if you zoomed in enough on 2 soldiers you could actually hear them talking from like a mile away (how the f? hahaha). Also some of the voice overs were pretty hilarious. The voice acting was terrible, but it reminds me of b movie where everything is supposed to be cheesy and anyone who knocks it doesn't understand it or just doesn't have a taste for it.

Haven't played a Far Cry game since the first one, unless you count Crysis 1 which is pretty much the same thing. I hope to get in on this Far Cry 4 action :D Thanks manofthem, you're always awesome with the giveaways. I might actually do a few in these next coming weeks ;)

I think the best moment I've ever had in s farcry game was facing the trigens in one, there I was strolling through a forrest in one admiring the beauty when an angry little thing starts chewing at me so I stomped it out and continued on , next thing their coming from all sides luckily im a smart ass and was up in a tree, except they could climb the shits.
Right I just woke up that's as good as I have got atm

Count me in! I bought Far Cry in 2004, but I found out that I could not run it on my laptop at that time:(..
A year later I had my first desktop computer and now I was able to run Far Cry, I loved it, epic graphics, so I had to wait playing it but it was worth it.:rockout:

Far Cry beat the crap out of my system, and I didn't play it til like 2007, maybe 2008. I had a Geforce FX5200 from 2003, first pc I built, and the opening scene has the choppiest frame rate. When I finally upgraded to my GT9800, the game looked beautiful and ran like butter.

So stoked, I'm going to start replaying it tonight!

BTW everyone, let's plan on ending tomorrow night or Monday night at the latest.

I've been playing Far Cry for years. I loved the second one, even though pretty much everyone I spoke to said they hated it. I've played a little of Far Cry 4 on my brother's computer, and it looks pretty cool.

I have played all the Far Cry games (but for Far Cry 4), I bought the original when it came out and it is by far the best. It also had a cool AMD tweak where you could go into 64 bit mode, which was nice with my 939 64 bit rig. The zombie/mutant part was really weird. I liked the Jack Carver personality much better than Far Cry 3's, who was a total wimp. Jack Carver was a badass Arnold type. They should have kept that guy for future games.

I'm going to share myself experience last night with the group

I was still feeling terrible last night (today as well), and since I wasn't up to sitting at my pc, I was lying in bed and hitting up a little gaming on the ps3. Yes, I was playing FC2, from the comfort of my sheets and pillows.

Do you know the best part of FC2? You can start playing it anywhere and pick right up, not skipping a beat; the game is literally devoid of story so there's nothing to miss out on. This save game I picked up last night is who knows how old, but it's all good because all I needed to do is open the map and go there, do what it says.. rinse, repeat

Oh boy, quality game

The first farcry was great.. and with the x64 patch made it even better... I remember being able to snipe soldiers and beasts with a carbine in single shot mode xD

skipped FC2.

Finished FC3 using all gadgets (mines and c4's mostly :3), fun times.

Speaking of the map, I had a retail version of FC2 and it had a real map inside which I always used to see where the hell I am.

Speaking of the map, I had a retail version of FC2 and it had a real map inside which I always used to see where the hell I am.

That would have been cool and probably very helpful.

Come to think of it, initially I bought a physical copy too, but since it was so miserable I ended up uninstalling it and selling it. I don't recall if mine came with a map...

@manofthem,

What always kept me amused about FC2 was that crazy Afrikaans banter that would break out whenever one of the guards witnessed a stealth kill or corpse without knowing where you were. Sometimes I just had to pause the game cuz I was laughing so hard I couldn't play.

@chr0nos,

I used single shot mode on the M4 a lot. That was a great feature. I also loved being able to lean around cover. A lot of games don't have that anymore, and I'm pretty sure it's because a lot of players feel it's too awkward to use on a gamepad. Oh to the good ole days long past.

this thing still open? oh well, I liked the bow in FC blood dragon; I always tried to snipe people with it and the game was awesome in general.

Yes, it's still open for a little bit. I was considering drawing tonight, but since I've been feeling so lousy and on the pc so little, I think tomorrow night will be the drawing.

As for Blood Dragon, I really need to get back into that game. After finishing FC3, I played a little bit of it and thought it was great, but it just died down for me. So little time :(
