Using Titan as Tesla

Hi
I was wondering if theoretically, a GTX Titan could be configured in an Nvidia Multi-GPU/Maximus setup, just as a Tesla would. Assuming ECC is not necessary, could this be done? If so, how?

I'm not sure this can be done as don't the drivers lock down features available to the professional cards?

Isn't the titan supposed to have unlocked drivers? Like Double Precision floating point or something?

Yeah floating point is supposed to be unlocked, but getting the card to be recognised in a multi-gpu maximus setup would be prohibited by the drivers due to the mixed nature and feature set of the cards; at least that's my limited understanding of it. Hopefully these posts will boost the visibility of this thread to those that know a lot more than myself!

What do you think would happen if one installed a titan alongside a quadro card?

Based on my understanding of how the drivers work vs the unlocked capabilities the Titan contains this is not possible. The Titan is setup similarly to how the GTX 580 was in the past but it still essentially at heart a Gamer card which is why in the past you could not do that with a GTX 580. Of course I maybe mistaken on this as its something I personally have not tried but I have heard talks in the programming community with similar ideas to no avail (or if they have done it/found a way then they are not mentioning much about it).

So, again, what do you think would happen if one installed a titan alongside a quadro card? What would actually occur? As a side note: I got this idea after I saw Workstation Specialists list the Titan as a non-isv certified compute card.

Same reason why truck commercials show trucks pulling yachts up mountains. Whatever justifies the price.

From what I remember, the Titan was advertised as an "Entry Level Compute" card. I'm sure they just wanted to advertise it as having compute horsepower without actually underselling their own professional cards.

Managed to dig up this post claiming GTX cards don't work well (if at all) in MAXIMUS mode.

Well, maybe I'll ask NVIDIA about this. Though I'll probably get a vague, inconclusive answer that was obviously created by the PR Marketing department. Or maybe Linus from LinusTechTips will be nice and try doing this. I'm sure he has a few titans lying around...
