i've used soo many video cards over the years i've started to lose track of them all. kinda why i kept my list to just my main rig and cards i used for a long period of time... since those are the ones i really remember.

i have used voodoo 1, 2, and 3. matrox g200, and a few ati AIW cards. one a rage based chip and the other a radeon 7500 core based.

Haha, oh yeah I remember trying to play GTA 3 with it and it just showed me pictures instead of the game But I did specifically buy it just so I could play GTA2

Thanks for the reminder! I had been trying to think of the racing game I liked back then. I guess it was GTA, and yeah, it didn't play well until I got a FX 5900XT (I think that's the right card?).

Nah I was poor as hell and prices in Romania were insane. I had to get the MX 440 (which I thought was the regular GeForce 4, rookie mistake) which was adequate for GTA 3 and I also remember playing No One Lives Forever maxed out and having my jaw drop at the "stunning detail"

I know this has been done a bit before though I haven't seen a recent thread about what GPU's you have purchased over the years.

Comments and thoughts on specific ones are welcome.

Inno3d Savage 2000 64MB (this lead me to buying the next in my list as although it had a "large" 64MB VRAM which as a noob fooled me it was piss poor at any kind of 3d gaming)

I would say I definately upgrade more nowadays than when I first got into PC gaming, it's probably once a year/every 10 months or so just to keep up with current tech more than neccesity

well if i don't count the dead one ... i am at 17/17 (nvidia/AMD ratio) and 3 none of them ... huhu

i should also add the gpu in the SOC of my smartphone and tablet? it would make 18/18 since one is a GK20A 192 core (basically a GT710 ) and a Adreno 330 (ok by Qualcomm but originally from ATI/AMD ..... adreno/radeon)

me? affiliated to a single brand??? not possible

It all started with a GeForce 2 MX PCI card. Bought a Voodoo something originally, but had to trade it in because the SOYO board didn't supply sufficient power to the AGP port to power much of anything at all. Went to a different board later and traded with my friend's Voodoo 2 or 3 (something). It was a little faster than my GeForce 2 MX.
After that, Radeon 9800 Pro. That's about when I joined TPU, I think.
X850 Pro flashed to XT (Thanks W1zz!)
HD 2900 XT (died quickly)
HD 4850/4870 CF
HD 5870 CF
HD 6950 CF
HD 7870 GHz Ed.

I remember "p.o.d"

Oh man, I loved that game! Lots of memories. I think this actually ran on our old P2 233 MHz Compaq.

There is a huge generation (and performance) gap between each GPU. Between these upgrades there were HUGE performance boosts.
BTW, the HD4670 is still in operation today. Still using it in a rig for DOTA 2 gaming only.
