What Graphics Cards is the best for a low price?

I am new to computer gaming and I want to spend at least 500 bucks on everything. I loving gaming on a console. I want to get the best things that I can get. I want it to be a gaming set up. I haven't thought of a good set up for a low price be if you have one, I would love you to recommend it and post on this :rockout:

The best gpu out there is the HD7950 3GB/R9 280 3GB. If you overclock it a bit you will get the 7970/r9 280x performance. Don't forget to buy a decent PSU like the XFX 550W/650w.

This is the newest chart on here. Of course, sales on certain ones can sway but I'd go with the 290 or 270x judging by this.

He said at least $500... So you have $1.5k? That's what it would take requiring peripherals to get a solid gaming machine. A better question is what is your MAX budget for this gaming pc?

Whoever said the 7950 is the best card out there is absolutely lost.

I'm still not clear if the OP wants just a GPU, and has up to $500 to spend, or wants to spend a minimum of $500 on everything.

if your TV has HDMI and you have the room you can skip the monitor and just connect it via HDMI switch ...
the 7970/280x while still perfectly capable is getting on in years

For $500 I'd look into a prebuilt sporting an i3 or Pentium Dual Core at least and then putting a 750ti in there or something.

Core i3-2120 3.3Ghz, 4GB RAM, 250GB HDD. Not bad but I can't find any info about GPU compatibility, not even a shot of the back.

If you want it to feel like a gaming PC vs console level power, a better budget is $600 for tower and OS alone. Then add at least $100 for peripherals.

$500 for everything is unrealistic for a PC that is a transition or better alternative to console. I advise saving a bit more, The patience will pay off.
