Hi guys, i'm having trouble boot problems with this intel x38bt board using xfx r7 265, but running fine with 7300gt which i kept for display purpose ... With r7 265, bios screen comes up with intel logo, when i press f2 there's no operation going on and there's 5A post code in bottom left side of the display ... any suggestions? Bios is up to date of motherboard ...

This is temporary system, i have to give it further away but in few days

4gb ddr3
1TB WD green
128GB Samsung SSD

The 5x POST codes indicate I/O Bus errors. I'm guessing 5A is the PCI-E Bus. Check all your connections to the card, including power, and make sure the card is fully seated in the PCI-E slot.

Everything is alright but no luck in booting further than intel logo screen, when i press power switch of cpu, pc shuts down instantly which means it's stuck at the point and not processing further

Do you have the 7300GT and R7 265 in the computer at the same time? You might have to take the 7300GT out and put the R7 in the main PCI-E slot.

not at same time man, tried both, separately and combine, 7300gt works separately but r7 265 does not (no further boot after from intel logo) ... and i put r7 265 with 7300gt (primary display) in order to check if board recogizes r7 265, but the pc didn't boot no display ... i guess motherboard doesn't support R series cards, tested on other x48bt and x38bt boards too ... no display with R series

What PSU are you using? nm..
I'm thinking :
a) Not enough PSU-ehh..600w on 12v rail is plenty for that.
b) UEFI BIOS on GPU

Have you tried switching pcie slots?

The GPU that you have on your hands has been designed a lot differently compared to X38-era solutions, firmware- and drivers-wise. It sure implements some compatibility abstractions to support VBE, but there's no guarantee that legacy motherboards will be able to provide you with the same experience that you would have had with older GPUs.

In your case, it seems like the graphics hardware itself was successfully initialized and the display connection has been established, although the motherboard's PCI* auto-configuration utility failed to execute the initial query that was supposed to return the list of supported video modes (or anything else that important). Based on this assumption, my recommendations would be:

1. Access EFI using your working setup, with GT 7300 series adapter. Make sure that "UEFI boot" option (found in "Boot" section) is set to "Enable". If there's an option to disable the "WAKE# Signal Wake-up Support" feature, go for it.
There must be some additional options in the "Video Configuration" menu ("Advanced"), but I can't find a list of them on the Internet, so if you made a photo of that screen, that would be really helpful. Or just write them here, it doesn't really matter.

2. It might sound illogical, given the fact that you receive an error code that strictly tells that you have a problem with your primary PCI* device, but try using the analog video cable instead of digital. Make sure that you don't put any additional hardware on that thing (like HDMI-to-VGA adapters). You should also try a different display device (a TV, for example).

Update mobo bios using the 7300. Then take the 7300 out and put the 265 in the top slot.
