Hello guys, I'm asking for help with an issue I'm experiencing every single time when flashing the BIOS on my Asus X99 Rampage V Extreme board.
I've flashed the BIOS on three different occasions to update to the latest firmware available from Asus, and after rebooting for some reason my RAID 0 drive containing all my games fails, showing that one of the member drives failed during the boot process.
I press Ctrl-I to enter the Intel RAID configuration, and the option to recover the RAID volume is grayed out, one of the two hardrives shows a red "failed" status.
The only option left at this point for me is to delete the RAID volume and create a new volume. Interestingly enough, this doesn't happen to my OS RAID 0 volume, which has never failed during the flash process.
The RAID 0 that fails every time is composed of two WesternDigital Black 1.5TBs drives (3 TBs total in RAID) connected directly to the board's Intel SATA 3 controller using identical SATA 3 cables. I've tested both drives in my old X79 board and I have zero problems there, both drives pass chkdsk with no errors to report.
Every time this happens I'm forced to get the drive from my X79 rig which contains my games folder and copy over 1.3TBs worth of game installed folders, a process that's incredibly annoying and time consuming.
Do any of you guys have any suggestions? I'm seriously thinking of unplugging the two drives from the board next time I need to flash it to prevent any data loss, but that would be a big hassle.
