I recently managed to grab a Crosshair 4 890 board, 8GB or DDR3 2133RAM, and a 7970 with a custom BIOS 1250/1750 and block installed.

I have paired this with my 1100T

I managed to get it all upgraded, and am now testing my system off a windows 7 disk for stability and for memory issues.

Currently it's running 4.3Ghz at 1.425v 1900Mhz memory 9.10.10.28 1T 1.75v

Benchmarks to come.

Thus is the same case, and had the same motherboard since MKMODS put it together for me in 2009, I have been through 3 CPUS, 3GPUS, and two sets of RAM.

Benchmarks to come, as I will see what benefit DDR3 is going to give me.

Well. The GPU has stopped responding, so I tossed my 5870 back in under it to see if it was caused by any other issues, and nope, seems to be the new GPU lasted through the first boot of windows, and about 4 hours of Memtest. First 3D stress and it has died?

Anyone know how to test a 7970?

Yes.

I have had to back my CPU overclocks down, I get BSOD "101" under full load from F@H randomly, or I should say core 3 appears to be weaker than the rest, I disabled it and was able to run 4.3Ghz on all the other cores and pass Intel Burn in test, and all the FPU benchmarks in Everest that would cause it to BSOD.

Is it worth the extra 150Mhz for one less core?

I would say no, it is not worth losing 1 core for 150Mhz, but of course there are people with more knowledge than me and hard facts, my assumption is from a logic standpoint.

This!

A whole core of power for 150mhz? I'd sacrifice 500mhz if it meant keeping a core as that's another core to use in general. Good trade-off really.

Currently running tighter timings and 4.128Ghz, 17.5 X 236, 943Mhz (DDR 1886Mhz) 8.9.9.24 1T and its been flawless for the day. F@H on both to test stability and for F@H, cause, F@H.
