I haven't been keeping up with computers for atleast due to my studies but slowly getting back into it. Deciding to rebuild a new system and my budget is around $2400 for just the hardware.

This is what I've made so far and wondering if it's basically using parts that won't be outdated within 2-3 years

I would go with a ssd that has lower price/GB (personally I have had issues with Samsung 850 pro and am in the process of RMAing it) and go with the 4790k if you know how to overclock it, if not looks like a solid build. Maybe diferent case as well because h440 has bad airflow (on air my temps dropped 5 C just by taking the front panel off.)

i7 3770K to i7 4790 (Non-K) is a side grade if not a downgrade considering the overclock you could get from your current CPU.

Having in mind your current build, I would say buy a GTX 970, add 8GB and buy a 512GB Crucial MX100 SSD.

If you really want to buy a complete new build, go LGA2011-v3 and DDR4.

Sorry just on my phone so can't quote you guys. I was also looking at the Intel 760 series ssd and a corsair carbide 540 case. And mm they're still going with the trends of k being unlocked so ill be getting the 4790k. I looked at socket 2011 but I think its too much power for my needs. 6 cores + ht

You wont notice any gains switching from a 3770k to a 4790k. Keep your 3770k or go LGA2011-V3.

Slap in 2 gtx 970 and youre good to go.
Your cpu is still one of the best
DDR4 is too expensive IMO so I personally would not recommend the X99 route, but then again I dont know what you intend to do with your Pc

EDIT: Just noticed you have a 27'' 1080 p monitor so 2 970 would be overkill or they actually might last you a couple of years

Just upgrade your current build, you don't need a new build since your current build is still pretty good. Like I said earlier, just buy a GTX 970, add 8GB and buy a 512GB SSD and you'll be flying.

I would agree.... upgrade to 16G RAM, an SSD, maybe a GTX 970 and that is a solid upgrade right there.

I upgraded to a 970 in October and it has been great, basically slays every game maxed out and flawless 60 fps on my 1080p monitor. (If the game is optimized well, some games just run like shit in general)

I did upgrade from an AMD FX 4100 however, and a GTX 650 2GB. (To my current rig in specs)\

The 970 has great OC head room too, the most liked seem to be the Gigabyte, MSI and Asus I think.

And unless your going to be playing on 4k on a huge TV, I don't think 2 970's is necessary.

-My thoughts
