He said is willing to go upto $800, though i believe if you was to buy now then perhaps go with something like this?
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/LVVGwP
Case is a preference or you could wait few months for GTX960 to be released and then decide whether to get a i5 k processor or a normal i5 CPU.
Definitely re-use anything you can from your current PC whether its DVD drive, hard drive and windows OS product key.

XFX build quality is a lot better than Corsair budget PSU from lot of reviews, i am using a XFX 650w in my new PC and it's excellent for value for money with reliability.

i bought that psu from the list above. with that mail-in rebate and the promo code it just looks so cheap
XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

it's only a bronze certified thats not going to be a problem is it?

Edit: I see you already bought a PSU, so that will save you another $20-30 so you can get a better GPU or CPU. The case is just a personal choice of course, go with something you like

He can save himself another $15 by not needing optical drive and put it towards something else and just use a USB pen drive at size of 4GB is minimum i believe and make a bootable OS installer.

ok ok so what i got so for from what i read above is grab the (6GB ram, optical drive, and the 1TB hard drive) from the pavilion
and buy everything else.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/8rCF3C

with that it's within the budget, what you guys think?
oh someone put a 750W power supply above is all that power needed should i changed to a bigger power supply?
do i need to buy cpu fan doesn't it come with one?

You probably won't use 300 watts even under load. That XFX 550 watt that you picked out is just fine and a very good price.

If you are certain you will never overclock the CPU, and it looks like you are based on your motherboard choice, then get the i5 4690 non-K chip. It will save you $10 at Newegg or Amazon and free shipping at both.

The CPU comes with a fan/heatsink. You won't need anything better unless you did plan to overclock in which case you would need the K chip and a different motherboard.

I would rather put in the $15 in the off chance i may need the odd or be stuck in the 1 in 100 times when that may be the only life saver.

Or he can sell the whole system and re-use that to increase the total budget. Up to him.

If the OP wants to overclock on the other hand and keep his system then for the same price he can get the MSI Z87M GAMING mATX board

Progress....... Good..

You've made some excellent choices.

Might be worth starting a thread on your options for RAM. What you would gain if you upped it to 8 gb with your existing sticks ? Matching pairs is best and i dont know if you will find another 2 gb stick to match yours.

It would be cheaper if they went with two HDDs rather the SSD+HDD combo. One for OS and programs, the other for documents and games.

What is the total cost of your build so fat ?

I reckon youve got plenty spare for an SSD.

It shouldnt be too difficult to make a tidy system out of your old mschine using second user parts. I pass on redundamt kit to friends whenever i can.

Carry on with the updates Dude.

An SSD will load Windows quicker but won't make much of a difference in gaming except loading large maps quicker. It's nice to have but not at the detriment of a great video card. Stick to the GTX 970 before putting $$$ into a SSD. For a little more you could get a MSI GTX 970 Gaming or a GTX 970 Asus Strix. Both are great. Reviews are here on TPU. If you have $$$ left over then pick up a 128 GB MX100.

I hate to put a damper on your enthusiasm, but IMO you should have bought a 750W gold or platinum rated PSU for stability of power. Antec HCG, XFX, Seasonic are some good quality PSU's.
Remember that every component relies on adequate, clean supply of power to run efficiently.

750 watt is massive overkill. The OP will probably use less than 300 watts even under load and never taking into the efficiency rating at 50% power if you want to bother with that silliness.

SSD is just like a normal HDD that is turbo charged with flash memory and not analog/disk memory.

Like 64k said there is no need for a 750W unless he is going go SLI in future. 550w-650w is enough for any build that looks to run single GPU configuration even with overclock CPU and GPU.
The PSU is a XFX 80+ bronze efficiency which is a better build quality than Corsair and some of Antec PSU.

thermaltake Commander MS-I Case: Nice choice, i have the comander MS-II, they are kinda cool, cheapass and also featuring excelent airflow, i gotta recongnize that the comander MS-I features more space than Comander MS-II, also a nicer inside details, they have pretty diferences, i wish i could have gotten Commander MS-I instead of MS-II but at the time i purchased mine there were out of the local stock, but my cutted MSII can handle the day by day with its custom Cuts

Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo, Excellent choice, add Arctic Cooling MX2 Thermal compound for the best cooling experience ever!

SSD: i have 64GB one, because i use mine just for my OS and some work programs, not games, not music not for data,
Personal coment: more than 128GB SSD its a waste of money ...since they dont change so much your gamming experience...they just make things load faster...
