CORSAIR H90 or H100 for i5 4690K OC

Hey... a need some opinions regarding two cpu water-cooling units.
I recently got an i5 4690K and i want to OC'it and i need a new cooler for it... I have 2 WC in mind...
The Corsair H90 with 2x14cm Corsair SP140 fans or the Corsair H100 with 4x12cm Corsair SP120 fans.
The price difference between the 2 models are ( 25 bucks with the fans included)...

In therms of OC i would like to go at least @ 4.4Ghz...

For starters, take a gander at TPU's review here. They look fairly comparable.. Are you talking about the 'i' versions?

How important is noise to you? The H100 will be loud, the H90 will be quieter, especially at 100%

Personally both should handle it just fine especially just for a 4.4-4.5ghz overclock. I would agree with @manofthem and say to focus on whether you want more noise or not as 4 fans on an H100i would be louder than a H90 with two. I have made a few rigs with H100i's and only 1 with H90 but both do a great job at staying relatively quiet and handling overclocks with the stock fans.

I never break 46'C with regular loads/gaming/applications with a pair of SP120's on a H100i.... my ambient temperatures are 18 - 24'C and you can check my OC to the left of your screen.

I had the H100 before this newer "i" model and its performance was within a few degrees... I changed because the price was right (mainly) and the looks were better (slightly/personal opinion) with the newer version. :pimp:

I wouldn't worry too much about which cooler you chose based on raw performance... you should probably be more concerned on if it'll fit in your A1200 without hassle.

But, if I had to pick one, I'd take the H90 out of the choices you've listed. Purely because it'll be a much easier fit in the chassis you have and wont look ugly like an H100 will do thats mounted in there.

However, personally, I'd go with the H80i. :wtf:

Why?
Newer pump design, same as the H100i's - should be less noisy then the older H100/H90 style pump and is potentially 'better' all round.
It's 120mm, not 140/240mm; you can almost be certain that you will have zero compatibility issues with the cooler and case combo.
Can do all kinda fancy colours in Corsair Link software.... don't like the white LED's on the pump? Change them to anything you want!
Also, it's a pretty decent fan controller as you can plug in up to four 3-pin fans directly to the pump to be software controlled.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll enjoy your new AIO cooler. :toast:

Thanks a lot for your quick responses... i will go with the H90 because of the noise of the H100... i would like to go with the H100i or H80i but for the moment i don't have more money to invest... thanks again

H90. Got a couple of H100's, the H90, and the H110 all in service right now, the H90 and H110 are much quieter than the H100 due to the fan size. H110 is the best out of what I got, of course. But then the Swifttech H220X is even better yet!

for 4,4 Mhz your really do not need anything special, as a starting point. IMHO. I have the H75 (if I recall correctly, my indifference to part names is known, it is a single size-2 fan design) and it is icecool as we say in Holland.

I'm cooling a i5-4690K with a Silverstone Tundra TD02. (240mm Rad AIO)

Temps are well controlled with it. In fact it's more cooling than my CPU needs at 4.2GHz. My temps only spike a small amount when gaming or running benches. (37c-43c)

I used to use a H100i with 2 SP120s for a 4670K @ 4.5GHz but now use a Phantek PH-TC14PE with just one fan because it is much quieter than the AIO setup and similar performance. Cheaper as well, I wouldn't rule out a decent air cooler over a cheap AIO water setup.

You can get a good air cooler for less money and have better cooling, less noise and no worries about pump failing or leaks.

Exactly why I won't go back to a AIO. My H60 lasted maybe a year before the pump started to fail. Too bad @stefanels is not in the States, I have a couple nice air coolers for sale listed in the B/S/T forum.

A dual radiator solution will offer you more in cooling performance over a single radiator design, so keep that in mind when selecting your cooler. If you really want to go crazy on the overclock, I would go with the H100. If you want to keep mild overclock, the H90 will probably more than suit your needs.

Personally, I'm using a Kraken X61 to cool my 4690k. I have a Corsair H50 in my other rig (on an i5 750 @4.0), and personally, wouldn't use it on the 4690k after using the X61. It is much better at handling the heat at full load than the single radiator design ever will, even in a push/pull setup.

120m rads can be surprising...
Also fan performance, room temperature, processor, thermal paste and mounting can affect but... a single 120x50mm rad can be a brave one against heat!

either would be fine....I run a H-70 with an i5 2500k... and I can go to 5Ghz No problem.3 & 1/2 years and running strong so far.also, the draw on the newer i5 would be lower...88TDP VS 95 TDP. or there about.

H80i never.... Liquitech 120 its better option, enermax unitt great brand, high quality unit.

I have an H80i on my 4790 and it's nice, but my complaint is that it's loud! If you can't tell yet, I do not like loud coolers)
