Found this article on dailytech http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=7052 . I don't know much about this site's reliability but I do know that many of their writers are veterans from the well-known anandtech. For the love of god, I truly hope that this is a hoax, bad sample card, shitty driver, or whatever it is. I will cry a river if this new card cannot beat 8800gtx . However, I shall reserve my judgment for now :shadedshu .

Thats a big disappointment. I'm going to be building a new computer soon and was seriously considering the new ATI card. I'm currently using EVGA 8800GTX and very happy with it, so I may stick with this. On the plus side, ATI's cards coming out soon will at least lower the prices in the market.

Uh... I don't think these are really credible... since when were people allowed to infringe the NDA like DailyTech did?

DailyTech are reputable, they are part of the AnandTech crew, which are the only website that I know that do "reputable" and reliable bench testing.

Benchmarks are here to review:

Well, I don't think a reputable IT news website will publish crap outside of April 1st. As journalists, I doubt they will sign NDA's like thier (ATI's) hardware partners would. Why would you supply hardware to a journo, then tell them they can't publish anything about it??? Your point does not make sense to me.

Well I reckon amd probably did this... a dirty marketing trick but still hilarious:
1. Give info on the next generation
2. Develop GPU
3. GPUs to be sent to the Journalists are deliberately crippled by any means, real version a kickass rig.
4. Develop the proper vesion while still supplying the crippled version, supplying AIB partners with different GPUs compared to the ones sent to the actual "Journalists"
5. Make revisions of the "sent-to-journalists", only increasing clock speed and making the cooler look more flashier.
6. Us fanboys scream in pain while AMD take notes.
7. Release date, AIB partners ship out the proper, non crippled, card may be crippled by a pencil mod deliberately or something like that before, opposition is WTF? 8800 fanboys cry And lawyers prepare to fight, i die of happiness because a graphics card was released
8. AMD wins the case because they said "we fixed the problem".

Lets hope so....

To be quite honest, I hope these numbers aren't what the final released product will produce. I hope that the R600 is able to at least compete with the 8800GTX, but the signs don't look very good so far.............

Utter bollox, and aint the 2900 xtx ment to be clocked at least 800mhz?

plus, methinks if it is a genuine bench, they used the worst possible drivers, but I quite simply think its utter rubbish

and then the post previously on the 2900

AGAIN... I think ill wait till inhouse benching b4 believing half the crap posted on any sites

LOL, BTW I get way over 100fps @ 1920x1200 (often upto 200-300fps at points) in HL2 on just a single x1900xtx at MAX settings

so an 2900xtx scores lower than a 1900xtx? utter crap

Well, I hope you're right, for AMD/ATI's sake, as all the news about them lately, seems pretty grim. :(

The first article stated that the comparison between the 2900XT and the 8800GTS used release candidate drivers. The second article stated that they then used the retail drivers released to ATI's hardware partners, which is pretty much the final product.

Either way, my x1900xtx beat that fps score for halflife so i simply dont believe the article.

Well, I'm sure we'll find out soon what's going on. I'm pretty disappointed with the whole thing. I was expecting ATI/AMD to rise from the ashes.... but haven't seen any sign of this happening yet.

Waiting to see Barcelona and the R600, whenever they are finally released.
