http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page362.htm probably going to need to go for the 850 but if you can hold out both camps got the new 20nm lithography coming soon. I think AMD sooner. if it is true what I have seen they are really pushing envelope.

it says (http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine) 619 watt and a 669 watt psu, mine is a very good 660 watt psu and it can handle much more watt then it's rated to, but i do want to keep it under rated power, my msi gtx 780 gaming oc is oc'ed to 1ghz (more or less 100mhz more then stock oc) so 2 gtx 780 oc'ed would need much more then my 660watt psu under max load, the 619 watt is 100% peak load and with a 750 watt psu i would be fare from using it to it's max wattage, since most games don't use cpu and gpu 100% when gaming, mabye 600watt when gaming in sli, then the psu fan might not spin at it's max rpm (but close) where most psu fan are noisy incl the fan on my seasonic platinum 660watt psu

Why not leave turbo on, but make it turbo on all cores (no matter how many are under load). Keep it at stock first but undervolt it about 0.05 V using negative delta voltage adjustment. If it goes all right then increase only the turbo multiplier. It's nice to have undervolted overclock if silicon lottery allows.

Never thought about it that way, so on all 4 cores it's 4.0ghz(like it is now) 3 cores mabye 4.2ghz and 1-2 core mabye 4.4ghz and since 1-2 cores at 4.4 ghz isn't as hot as 4x4.0 ghz, 4,4 ghz won't be a problem.

Still think 1.200 volt is to much if i where to use ibt and prime 95 (26.6) since at 4.0ghz and 1.000 volt temps are okay in all tests, but 1.200 volt i think would raise temps to much, i want to keep temps under 80 degrees also doing ibt (maximum) and prime 95 (max heat). I never test for hours but i do use hardest test in ibt, prime 95 and asus realbench.

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1800828/intel-temperature-guide.html

4th Generation 22 Nanometer: 4790K (TDP 88W / Idle 2W)

Standard Ambient = 22C
Tcase (CPU temp) = 74C
CPU / Core offset + 5C
Tjunction (Core temp) = 79C
Tj Max (Throttle temp) = 100C

The Core temperatures above show that mid 70's are safe.

Note: Early 1st Generation Core 2 processors with stepping revision B2 and B3 have lower Tcase and TjMax specifications than other variants. Use CPU-Z (see Section 10) to view your stepping revision. Core temperatures in the mid 60's are safe for these processors.

CPU temperature and Core temperature scale up and down together. Here's an example:

If CPU temperature is 65C, then Core temperature is 70C.
If CPU temperature is 70C, then Core temperature is 75C.
If CPU temperature is 95C, then Core temperature is 100C.

At 22C Standard Ambient, here's the typical operating range for Core temperature:

80C Hot
70C Warm (Heavy Load)
60C Norm
50C Norm (Medium Load)
40C Norm
30C Cool (Idle)

Why use prime? Why is the op so hell bent on a flame in the app? Do yourself a favor and ditch prime and IBT... If you want to properly stress a hasswell chip use Intel's XTU and select the stress test option.. Your like a dog chasing its tale and not getting anywhere. Good luck

Just wanted to know if the ibt freeze test had to be stable/unstable (flame) when using ibt.

Even when i have passed the ibt test the flame was never 100% stable and wanted to ask if it's normal or not.

Couldn't find an answer using google so i had to ask, is the freeze test not surpose to show if your pc is 100% fluid, stable when the cpu and ram is used 100% (ram close to 100%) not just show if it will crash doing ibt maximum.

Stock setting (vcore and ghz):

Passed 15 min up to 8gb asus realbench stress test temps okay the same with 1 round of benchmark also asus realbench, prime 95 ver 26.6 79-80 degrees peaking at 81 degrees, ibt standard temps can go as high as in the 90's and AISuite 3 showed up to 176 watt for the cpu (35-40 watt more then prime 95), 2 min intel extu passed 67-71 peaking at 73degrees.

Can anyone tell me why we shouldn't use ibt for haswell cpu's other then to much voltage?

Anything i should change?

Have 3 monitors (Dell U2414H ) and looking for a possible psu upgrade to 750watt, although it's not much from 660 watt, but the evga supernova g2 750 is much more quiet, silent then the 850watt version, also the price for the 750 watt is much better then the bigger version.

And this has what to do with this thread again?

@gasolin My recommendation is go into your bios and select *load optimized settings and hit enter, and reboot*

Problem solved.

Notice your temps dropped using Intel's XTU?
Do you k ow why they dropped? Its because xtu is more real life stress test then those other programs you use. Your never going to max out a CPU like prime and others do. All your doing is degrading your chip and I guarantee your doing just that by running prime.. That software isn't made for hasswell, look around online and see why its not a good test to use. The guys from silicon lottery have cherry picked CPUs from your 4790k up to the bad ass extreme chips. They use for testing XTU to stress there chips for one hour and if it passes its labeled as a guaranteed 4.8 , 4.9 ,5.0 GHz chip at a said voltage. They charge a premium for there chips and like I said they use Intel's XTU program, why? Mabey they know what there doing by doing so ;)

xtu is fine to use but i would say so is prime and aida64. maybe silicone lottery uses a test that is a little less intensive for only a hour to sell more cpu's. 1 hour and ship it out is no good in my mind. 1 hour followed by gaming after its bought sure.. but anyone doing more than gaming needs to ensure a higher level of stability.

i think the whole prime bad for haswell thing started with certain versions producing way to much heat and is something i have seen the intel thermal specialist explain several times.

When ibt freezes up it means your oc is unstable.
