R9 280x Xfire on 760w enough?

Hey guys, I just recently purchased another used 280x and now I'm running crossfire. My concern is can my current PSU can handle this much power? Will it degrade my PSU? My current PSU in my sig is a Seasonic 760xp2 platinum.

If the cards have a TDP of 250w x2 plus 125w of CPU. That leaves me an extra 135w for the rest of my components.

So should I just stick with my current PSU or get like a 1000w?

i think you will be fine dude.

that psu should have plenty of amps for those gpu.

That PSU has a max power draw of 55A on the 12V rail, XFX specify at least 38A per card or higher.
While it's a great PSU, I would look at something with more Amperage available for Crossfire.

You should be fine, I have a heavily overclocked i7-5820K, GTX 980 and GTX 465 all folding/crunching together and I'm pulling 485w at the wall at this very moment on a Thermaltake ToughPower Gold 750w (a lesser quality power supply as well). I also have a 280X + HD 7970 + Pentium G3258 system conjoined with a stock Intel QX6800 quad based Dell on a single 6 year old Mushkin/Topower OEM 800w PSU (64A +12v max) and they have zero issues with both systems and cards maxed out.

I had tried cfx with those on my system. Max 650w reading at wall in Valley benchmark, so you are safe.

Sorry but i think you are looking at the 660w version. My 760w has 63A on the 12v rail. XFX own requirements sometimes are over-rated, I just really liked how these cards look and cool with custom fan profile. Thanks for the reply and help though.

i had that combo myself and as long as you dont overclock you are fine but if you overclock your CPU + GPU´s you will sometimes have a peak of about 1000 watts. hope that helps.

People saying it's not enough are delirious. It certainly allows room for overclocking.

well i just report what my wattmeter said at that time and now with my 9590 and my 290x both overclocked i don´t exceed 600 watts but with my old rig 8320 @ 4,7 and 2 7950´s in CF Overclocked and overvolted i could hit the 1000 watt mark with firestrike or catzilla but in games it was 760 watts maximum.

thats not my test but with an intel cpu and ONE 7950 he could hit over 500 watts peak!

Yeah I think you should be fine mate.

I used to run 2x7950s and a i7 990x @ default values and would run at about 350-400w on a 800w PSU. 5-600w OC.

I'd say you would be close to pulling (give or take) say 600w with overcooking.

Reviewers of power supply's say you should leave 20% of your PSU for long safe operation. So 760w-20%=608w

Thanks again guys for your replies. A Mod responding that they say my PSU is enough clarifies my worries and the rest of the TPU community that likes to always mess around with their PC.

PS: Lowrider, I don't OC that high on my CPU and my 2 280x is stock so I'm fine with my PSU even with bf4 and far cry 4 running for hours. Thanks for the tip though. I'll take note of it.
