Found a computer, need help with mobo

Ey up lads and lasses

Was down at the tip and saw a lass about to throw a system in the skip. Well you know what its like when the urge comes over you so i had to stop her and take it. (We can't get it out the skips once its gone in round our end).

Took it home to investigate my catch and here's the spec's form what i can gather:

DVD burner
2TB HDD (working Win!)
8GB DDR2 (I think its DDR2 will confirm when i get home)
AMD Phenom II (I think its a x4? But never owned an AMD chip so have no idea. Annoyingly i applied new paste before thinking to write down any part numbers).

According to the sticker on the side its a Acer Aspire X3450.

Now the down side. It would appear a cat has used it as a toilet at one point hence throwing it away. The motherboard (now clean) Looks in great nick, no signs of burnt marks nor blown caps etc. The CPU looks good so does the ram. However all my systems are Intel so cant test the chip. I tried to power it up and the HDD span up, fans came on etc but no monitor output. Im going to put my GPU in and see how that works. The back plate for GPU is missing so it could have been set to external GPU in the bios hence no video output.

However my question what form factor is the MOBO? And what socket is the cpu? Ive seen references to AM2+, AM3, AM3b? Like i said i know nothing about AMD so if i do need to replace the mobo id like to know i purchasing the right thing

Even if it is an Athlon it could be unlockable to something resembling a Phenom.

That case looks different, and the work station specs I linked appear to be the minimum.

i cant find an 8 core chip in the 880 chipset era. 6 core yes

Yeah, specs are all over the place from what I'm seeing. Could be a dual core, could be a 8 core. I can say it is AM3+ and supports Bulldozer/Piledriver CPUs (black socket show's that).

Thing that gets me is that I can't find any info about it on the Acer site.

Thanks guys for the responses, ill check the part no on cpu when i get home. Is the mobo's listed above micro atx? All the images ive seen of micro atx seem to have an extra pci/pci-e socket on the bottom.

It's a custom mATX board

That sucks balls. Even if we find the socket type, if a replacement is required it will be pricey due to being custom.

I can find you a custom mATX board, but with a totally different socket type. Asus make on with the same HxWxD.

If I'm not mistaken, its AM3 (not +), Athlon II x4 645

EDIT: You can buy the OEM motherboard from the US or China.

Right well I can confirm the mobo is goosed.

No video with onboard or dedicated.
Ram works in my main machine.
No boot with or without HDD and ram.
Removed one of the CPU power connectors as I remember in the past it caused the speaker to go mental on my old mobo beeping error codes yet this silent.

Fans spin but that's it.
When I get back home(had to leave it half way through testing) ill clean CPU pâste and get a proper part no for CPU.

Damn nice find. What i found is that it's DDR3 (as mentioned before) and probably Athlon II X4. Is there no way to stick regular mATX mobo in that case?

Hey guys, yup its DDR3 your all right. And Krusha yes its an Athlon II number on the chip is ADX645WFK42GM. No idea where i got Phenom from ive not been with it past couple of days with a family death. I'm planning on getting this running as a distraction.

EDIT: Just re-read your post RCoon are you saying the board you can get is different to the required socket, AM3? Or that its different to the Phenom socket which i thought it was running?
