Any way to change the subsystem id - vendor id? The program changes them correctly in the bios, but then continues to recognize the original id.

P.d: I have a HD7970 Vapor-x .

Any idea ?

Hi

changing the device ID is a big NO; don't do it
this would render the device un-flashable as it would not recognise the Vbios image instructions

Only change subsystem id and vendor id,no change device id.

I don't think so, and short of creating a fake card, why would you even want to?

Not in vBIOS. Atleast not without advanced hex editing. But it's possible by changing driver INF files. This has to be done every time a new driver is installed. There may be other methods of spoofing the GPU name. The better question is why do you want to change it?

So! actually my gigabyte r9 280x rev 2 gpu showed artifacts in games!
so i read somewhere that by flashing the bios of gigabyte hd 7970 ghz edition! it can stop showing artifacts and become stable! and i did that!
and surprisingly my gpu has stopped artifacting and desktop flickering permanently! :D
but one thing is that! now it shows me radeon 7900 series and i seriously think its ugly! thats why i wanna change my gpu name in this bios thats working properly for my gpu! :)

You can't see the name of the card when you are gaming, firt rule is learn to cut your losses, tamper too much and you won't have a working graphics card, instead, enjoy artifact free gaming and chill.

Ok i guess that makes sense. I also rename my 7870 XT to 7930 because AMD was smoking something when they came up with the 7870 name for this card that is essentially stripped 7950. Hence 7930 is much more logical.
Here's the link to my script to change the cards name during driver installation (not automated but better than manual). You'll have to modify it yourself: http://www.overclock.net/t/1373543/official-7870-tahiti-le-xt-owners-club/4500_100#post_22667437

The 7850/7870 is Pitcairn, the 7950/7970 is Tahiti with a number of architectural differences??

actually im thinking of doing this in bios! and im also finding a way to modify my own bios to what this 7970 bios is like! so that my own gpu bios works on my card! i see no differences in the two bioses with vbe7 just that on 7970 bios the voltage is 1.256v on 1100 mhz core and 1500mhz memory. thats stable for my gpu. is there any other software with which i can edit bioses :)

7870 XT is Tahiti LE so it's classification under the 7800 series is incorrect. It belongs in 7900 series like the two other Tahiti chips 7950 (Tahiti PRO) and 7970 (Tahiti XT/XT2). Even it's transistor count and die size are the same as the faster Tahiti chips.

Ahhhh right, whilst you said you had that card your comment was that the "7870 was a stripped down 7950".

I'm trying to change my memory clock for #1 but when I type 800 it resets as soon as I click something else

I'd like it to match this bios which is default 800 mem but the bios is for a newer revision or maybe win 8 only.
I crashes on 3d mode on windows 7 with my card

That first value is your idle core and memory clocks. It probably won't allow the change to happen as that might exceed the preset voltages in the first two states. You could go lower (not by much though...as that is pretty low as it is), but I doubt due to the voltage locks that you can go higher. (or at least that high...maybe 500-600 on the memory clocks)

OK, I solved the problem with flickering screen in 2D (for msi r9 280x 3g), thanks to this post, which gave me the idea (and I think that the solution may be suitable for all series 280x).
I changed the frequency of video memory (1500 to 1250) just in two places through VBE7 (Powerplay - State 2 UVD - Memory Clock), no other changes (for the purity of the experiment).
No more flickering screen in 2D, while 3D applications and games are played without sacrificing performance.
I have attached a factory bios and fixed bios for comparison.

280x is the same things as a 7970, you'd get absolutely no benefit and likely break something.

No updates since last year, bad:(
I guess there's no way to tweak memory voltages in VBE?
Maybe some minor update to enable that thing, like in Afterburner?

Somebody who knows hex please help me!!

Hi, the creator of this awesome tool!

I found your program very useful.
It neatly does the job of flashing my Powercolor R9 270x PCS+ BIOS.
Now I can set the new overclocked clocks as default ones.
But one problem remains.

My card's VDDC is 1206mV.
The smallest increment I can raise in VBE7 is +6 which I applied and overvolted to 1212mV.
I left the core and memory clock untouched.
When I flashed the bios, everything went okay.
But when I tested the stability with Heaven, the PC freezes with grey screen and GPU fans went nut, started running at 100%.
I switched back to 1206mV and it works normal again.
Why did it happen?
I don'think +6mV can do any harm to the graphic card not to mention destabilizing the card.

I found some explanation online for gigabyte r9 270x here https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=16907.0.
It says
"OK, this card has a different VRM that VBE7 believe it has. VBE7 shows CHL822x VRM for the card, but Gigabyte used a newer incarnation of the this VRM chip, it is called IR3567A. The reason why the name of the VRM chip was completely changed is, that the company who designed the original CHL822x (Chil Semiconductor) was aquired by another chip maker, International Rectifier back in 2011. IR redesigned the chip a little bit and now they selling it under IR3567A name. Anyway, the VRM codes changed also, so the VBE7 is useless for these cards."

Is it the case for my card as well?
Because VBE7 shows the VRM of my card as CHL822x exactly as above.
If so, can you please make it identify the VRM correctly?
I really want to overvolt my card since its overclockability gives only 50Mhz on core while other people who have the same card as mine got 100Mhz++. I know every card overclocks different even for same make and model. But I want to increase the voltage to be able to overclock more.
I attached my stock rom as well.

Please help me by writing a new bios from the file I uploaded in some hex editor, changing the VDDC from 1206 to 1216 or 1226.
Thank you so much in advance!
Stay awesome!

Hi, I want to update my MSI 7970 TF 3 to 280X, which BIOS should I use ? :) Thank you :)
here is my current BIOS

i flashed my Asus 7950 DCU2 to an Asus 280x DCU. I did this so the bios version matched my primary card GB280x (v15.4x), to try minimize lag and some wird ram usage issue.
But in the end it was the 2nd CF bridge's fault. Games used 2 to 3 times more ram than normally should.
My GB 280x is running a Powercooler bios cos GB is to dump to release a newer one then 15.039 that is known to cause Blackscreen after driver installation, exactly my prob.

If u wanna flash a different bios for some reason 1st check this
both card's must have the same chip, memory (some bioses have "autodetect")
both card's absolutely MUST have the same display-output layout and PCB (referenze or custom layout) be aware that every manufacturer can have a diff. layouts but mostly they are none to small changes

Flashing is always risky job that can brick your card. You do this on your own account and don't cry if it goes wrong.

I'm using a gigabyte 280x windforce OC rev 1, can someone tell me what #6 clock is? Why is it at 1144 vddc

i'm having random black screen problems that seems to have to do with power/voltage. someone suggested i increase the vddc to 1225 (from 1200 default), but i can't select above 1200.

can someone suggest what i should do? or what OTHER vendors bios would work for me?

thanks!

hey! i have gigabyte r9 280x rev2 i had many problems like artifacts in games and pc turning black screen and desktop flickering! i tried everything changing the voltage etc..
but the thing thats worked out for me is changin the memory from 1500 to 1400 everywhere and then create a bios.. i did editing with this software..and now the gpu never crashes.. be sure to change the memory clocks everywhere.. where there is 1500 u have to put in 1400 and then flash the bios created.. hope this helps u out..

Can you manually input? so don't click the drop down to get the list of available, just place the cursor, delete the entry and type in 1.212V and see if that works. I increased my voltage slightly as mine was struggling with stability at times and it's just been fantastic since but I do not remember even having the drop down options, it may be that you have the programmable controller but Gigabyte have Bios locked you to a limit. Have you tried Afterburner to see if that will override?

The problem with the Windforce is that's its non reference so the risk is increased flashing another Bios, you may be able to find one in our GPU database that has the same clock settings along with the same identical memory chips but it is risky, you would be as well e mailing Gigabyte support and telling them that you have stability issues that seem to be related to clocks and voltage, they may have a Bios solution that they can e mail you.

thanks for the suggestion, no i can't manually input, only allows a dropbox. Yes Gigabyte limited the voltage is what i figured... BUT i found a weird solution. I left my computer unplugged from the outlet overnight, and this morning every works fine again without changing anything. I feel like it may be a capacitor issue on my motherboard.
