Many people jump on the PhysX ship
Only to found out that it needs to be close (in terms of performance) to your main gpu
LOol :D

Im more interested in the part where DX12 allows multiple gpu's to be handled as one!!

It would be nice for the fact they both camps try to cripple games for each other and leave out effects/benefits. Like two 290Xs being able to play FC4 at 4K with a 960 to unlock the visual fur effects and lighting. Probably not happening thou.

This will not improve games. What it will let you do is run a amd card on one monitor and an nvidia card on another monitor at the same time with the same pc

Whenever you hear something like this it usually means with serious tradeoffs. Good God the driver issues alone I would think would be a potential nightmare.

As for SFR, VooDoo actually started out with that before Nvidia bought the rights to it and dubbed it SLI using AFR, but it seems there's a HUGE caveat with this new method.

The article states "Split frame rendering, for example, will still likely require some of the textures and geometry data to be in multiple frame buffers". If they can't even apply it to the bulk of the textures, which is the primary load, it won't make much of a performance difference.

M$ maybe allow but I dont know about both camps particularly the green team will do some drivers lock. This has happen before when some gamers wants to use radeon as main and nvidia for dedicated physx.

Nvidia likely will take that stance on it, AMD will keep on the fence saying they would love to support but Nvidia blocks. But behind the scene's AMD will be against it as they don't want to deal with support of people that have issues of cards not working well. This would take both sides working together in drivers and even hardware of the card to make it work together. If Nvidia allowed it, AMD would get people asking help with why cards won't work right and they would either ignore the problem (look back to the whole CF stuttering issue they ignored for years) or they would put all blame on nvidia side as the problem. nvidia would probably blame AMD side and try to shove the problem off on each other. So 1 if nvidia took the stance on not allowing it is better for AMD that won't have to what little $ they got in to support.

They allow multi-GPU configurations on any card in the same series of GPU's. For instance an R9 280X can CFX with a R9 280, an HD 7970 can CFX with an R9 280, R9 290X can CFX with R9 290, etc. The requirement is they have to be the same GPU even if one is cut down a bit but its something not many people do much as it is.

Problem is, the faster card gets crippled to the SLOWER of the 2 cards, so you got a 290x and a 280. You only get performance of 280 SLI which is kinda waste of $ to buy the 290x.

Well I doubt its going to work very well honestly even if opened up for use. It would more likely be better with cards from the same side that are lower (For instance a 760 with a 770 or 780 because you have it laying around).

Second, no that's not true with CFX. You can only do CFX with the same GPU, Hawaii can only work with other Hawaii cards (IE the R9 290, 290X, 295X2) and the same goes for any generation. You cannot crossfire an R9 280 and a R9 290X partially even just for the fact you need a bridge for the 280 and not for the 290X but also because of how CFX is limited to.

ok, but point i was tring to make is, the faster card would have to slow down for the slower card defeating the point of paying for the faster card.
would be same for nvidia side as AMD so not picking on AMD alone.

Pretty sure you can already do this. Admitedly, not certain but pretty sure.

you didn't read the article then
pay close attention to where they mention split-frame-rendering
