OFFICIAL Bombshell (Announcement)

So I've been following these developers for almost a year now, and there's only been brief images and hints about the game they've been developing on the side. It's an isometric cARPG called Bombshell [Official Site].

It's being developed by Interceptor (Duke Nukem II, Rise of the Triad), and Published by 3D Realms (Duke Nukem, Max Payne II, Rise of the Triad, Shadow Warrior). All developed in Unreal Engine.

The developers originally scrapped the first iteration of the game as it wasn't up to scratch, and they began development on this new version when they had to cancel the production of Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction.

You play as Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison, a galactic mercenary with a robotic arm and a ~~six~~eighteen shooter to reap havoc and mayhem around a multitude of extremely varied environments. There's a supposed deep storyline and a bunch of plot twists, but all we really care about is big explodey guns and general destruction. The team has stayed quiet for about six months, and I've been checking up on them regularly. They've updated their recent press kit too with some gameplay, so I wanted to bring you guys some of that before announcing anything.

Thankfully, this isn't a rushed desperate release. The only release date I've been given is "2015, when it's done". I hope they take all the time that they need to make a game that is able to compete in such a saturated genre. But I would like futuristic guns to make an appearance in the ARPG area, hopefully they come with enough punch.

There are just too damn many acronyms in the gaming community. I have no idea what a cARPG is, something like an action rpg with a random lower case C, I would assume. It's not just the abreviated genres types, either. "Hey, have you played RoPL 2, yet" "Yeah, but I didn't think it was as good as ARCoF." "Tell me about it! It did remind me a lot of GCN, though, that game was sick!" "IKR?"

Google says it's this

"CaRpg is a combination of the type of game action rpg / hack-n-slash like Gothic or TES: Morrowind and rougelike games like Slash'EM or Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup."

But I don't know why not just call it an Action RPG game.

Lower case c is computer. ARPG is action RPG. I could have done without the lower case c probably, as people don't associate RPG with board games anymore.

Unfortunately to be successful in such a saturated genre, the game not only has to be good, it also has to work on a multitude of low powered systems in order to compete with the likes of PoE, Diablo, and Torchlight. A huge percentage of steam players are still running on Intel integrated graphics.
