Need to build a standby server and looking for something cheap but powerful.

I am looking for i7 920 or from the same family along with the motherboard that supports 24 gigs of 1066. I will pay whatever is reasonable from a reputable seller.

Yeah, these are getting really hard to find man.

I have both a Sabertooth x58 in my build, and a DX58S02 in another near identical. Unfortunately, they are in use and not for sale... at least not cheaply. I might add I had to pay near retail ($175) to get the Sabertooth USED on eBay.

I HAVE been thinking about selling the guts of one of said systems and upgrading to LGA2011, but it would have to be a decent offer. PM me if you got one. For the mobo+CPU+RAM, I'd say at least $625. Sans ram, we could go lower, maybe $425. For just the mobo? Sadly it'd take about a bit more than I spent which may or may not be a good deal., or around $200.

my only guess is because by today's standards they still have a ton of horsepower and there aren't that many boards/chips left.

i almost bought one of these a while back, as it was dual 1366, had the memory support (ddr3 2gb sticks are cheap, and can do your 24gb easily) and it could support newer videocards

That mobo does not support the 5600 series processors. So you can only use 4c/8t cpu's by what I have read.

I just ordered one of the boards I posted a link to. I need to go put some more money on my debit card then I'll be purchasing a pair of X5550 CPUs for it. Should make one hell of a cruncher. Board will be here on the 11th if you want to hold off and get my opinion of it when it arrives.
