Hey guys,
So i recently got a new motherboard for my fx 8320 because my other one isn't supporting the cpu.
But when i took a closer look at the 8pin atx where my cpu connector supposed to be i see that one pin is CRUSHED.
And when i tried to post with this new motherboard all the fans spin up but i dont think the cpu is getting power.
I have also tried using 4 pins only in every single way.
Is there anyway to uncrush/unbend this broken pin ?
Specifications:
550 Watt modular power supply (i dont think it matters , it has a 12V atx that is working)
Motherboard : Asrock 970 Extreme 3 R2.0
Processor : Amd fx 8320 black edition
Hope anyone can help me out.

RMA it. Send it back and get a replacement. If it's broken straight from purchase, there would be no other option for me.

RMA. You didn't pay for a broken board. You paid for a working board.

Well from the pinout the backside is all ground and the front side is all 12v. Usually the side that has the clip has the 4 12v pins. So one possible solution is to take an exacto knife and cut the front housing so you can get to the base of the socket and solder a wire between the plug and the top of the mashed pin...since you can't rma it. You are going to have to mod it somehow if you can't return it.

Well being unhandy and soldering stuff on a motherboard can be challenging. Cut where i marked in RED down to the mashed pin. Solder the blue wire to the appropriate pin on plug and other end on the mashed pin. You may also need to trim back the plug pin so there is enough room to have the wire in between,

you need to fix the damage
you options are to
1.cut a paper clip or other bit of solid wire to the correct size and put it the end of the connector and hope it makes good enough contact
2. cut the outside of the damaged part of the connector and solder a wire to and then loop it into the backside of the psu's EPS connector

Also these are just mod suggestions that would work..you could totally F up and ruin everything. So you are responsible for yourself. Be careful, slow and steady. IF you do not own a soldering iron and have never attempted something like this then I would suggest not doing it. The paper clip method might work, however there will more then likely be arcing if not done exactly and that can cause big issues, fire and melting plastic are some of the possibilities.

Hey man ,
I really want to do something with the paperclip thingie but i really dont want to destroy my CPU or PSU.
I dont really care about the motherboard because this is my last change.
How exactly do i have to do the paperclip thinge?
Just trow a little peace of paperclip in my atx connector ?

OP sounds like you're looking for a simple fix and there doesn't appear to be one.

However, I would absolutely open an eBay case against the seller, Item Not As Described. Not sure how eBay is in the EU, but judging from how things are handled stateside with eBay, you should be covered.

(this is of course under the assumption that you didn't do it yourself, that it came like that. I can't encourage any unethical actions ;))

And if you're really not handy and have not soldered, I'd say it's not worth it to risk over hardware going poof

Motherboard_Socket_AM3+_backside_IMGP6400_wp.jpg This is how the backside of the 8 pin cpu power connector looks like on the motherboard.Heat from the backside with soldering iron the damaged pin ,then pull the rest of the pin with pincette or tweesers. It should have a hole on the place of the pin.Connect the power supply, then cut piece of paperclip and carefully put it in the hole.Solder it and cut the rest if your paperclip piece is too long.

It looks like it is the Clip side, so that would be positive 12v. But hard to tell for sure.
