Gigabyte Launches X99 Champion Series Motherboards

By now - i gave up on eastern marketing. Eastern marketing is the most horrible thing in the world for me. Every ad, every poorly designed logo or poster, every cringy video on youtube.

These guys GOT to stop and let some westerners handle their PR if they are going to market to the west.

i assumed only difference is more cpu pins and no wifi? I would then pressume that the Voltage regulators was also step up? or same? anyway, more pins, less wifi = less pins, +wifi. Probably the price is same? and no usb 3.1?

No usb 3.1 is a bummer, but it seems like the only upgrade worth pointing out is that non-reference CPU socket similar to Asus OC socket. except for the OC Champion which was showcased heavily at CES this year.

I gotta ask, why are there so many motherboard models (Z97, H97...) which are slightly different from each other? When I went to motherboard manufacturers site, I couldn't decide how to compare so many slightly different motherboards.

Think of it this way. "z" is for overclocking with improved vrm or more power phase. also z mobos are more support for memory overclocking. and so and so forth. There is no point in getting a "k" version processor which is overclockable if you only getting h97.

of course. there are categories. some have many bling bling some are not. some are E-ATX, ATX, mini itx, micro atx etc etc. you just have to decide first what do you want to achieve. For example, if you want a small size computer then either go with mini itx or matx. if you want to do dual GPU setup go with ATX. it all matters about planning.

yes there are H97 that can do overclocking but it is part of mobos manufacturer's choice but it is not officially supported by intel.

Look at it this way, if you are a manufacturer, you have to offer alot of choices because different people has a different taste/plan etc.

It is not a nightmare. You just need to be patient and check reviews then decide before buying.

Kudos to Gigabyte for giving ALL of their standard ATX X99 boards four PCIe x16 slots (physical at least). I mean, 2 out of the 3 CPUs for the platform support 4-Way SLI and ALL support 4-way CrossFireX, why the heck wouldn't a manufacturer make all its mobos with those options?!
