BIOSTAR has released an AMD socket AM3+ motherboard, the TA970 Plus with AMD OverDrive and the ACC (Advanced Clock Calibration) feature. This AMD 970 chipset board supports AMD multi-Core (x8, x6) and Socket AM3 processors including the AMD FX/ Phenom II and Athlon II versions. This is a powerful platform for gamers and enthusiasts.

The TA970 Plus is a full sized ATX board with 4 DDR3 DIMM slots and mSATA/Mini PCI-E combo connector. It supports SATA 6Gb/s speeds, which are two times the speed of current SATA 3G. Of course there is USB 3.0 support as well. Powerful graphics are supported with AMD's CrossfireX capability. To get every power advantage the TA970 Plus features the AMD OverDrive and the ACC (Advanced Clock Calibration) function. This allows power users to overclock their system by precisely calibrating the clock timings between the processor and RAM chips. These timings are critical in maintaining system stability when overclocking, otherwise you will end up with a system that crashes often. As they say, "Timing is Everything" and the TA970 Plus allows you to get it right.

Premium BIOSTAR exclusive features of the TA970 Plus include the BIO-Remote II, Smart Speed LAN and PURO Hi-Fi technology. The PURO Hi-Fi technology features an integrated independent audio power design with a built-in amplifier. The technology utilizes audio components with an independent power delivery design for a significant reduction in electronic noise producing superb sound quality. The unique noise-blocking multi-layer PCB layout is conducive for an exceptionally clean signal. That design feature, together with a sampling rate of 192 kHz/24-bit, delivers high quality audio through an analog connection to your home theater system, multi-channel speakers or high-end headphones, allowing you to enjoy true high-definition 7.1-channel surround sound.

140W CPU support. Looks like an OK board. I like the Piano Keys on the heatsink.

This platform needs a revamp or replacement soon. Consumers need a choice when shopping for PCs and AM3 offered a value proposition for the people wanting "6" or "8" core cpus.

"Powerful graphics are supported with AMD's CrossfireX capability"
970 has only PCI-E 2.0 16x and a 2.0 4x it does not work well with crossfire.

This mobo is OK but they must be hoping that the AM3+ CPUs are going to be around a long time... or they just found out AMD released AM3+ CPUs 4 years ago. LOL

While the AM3+ FX CPUs do provide excellent bang for the buck, there isn't going to be any new core upgrades on AM3+ CPUs so this is a very late to the party mobo.

BTW, 140w is the standard full rating on the AM3+ sockets. If you plan to run an 8-core FX, you will need a quality 140w rated mobo. If you plan to run an FX-9xxx series you need an AM3+ mobo specifically designed to handle the 220w rating of the factory overclocked FX CPUs.

I have the red version of the Biostar TA970. It has been a great board, once I got my 2400 ram running at 1866 and the timings set right. I am sure this will be a good board. Besides the HiFi it is upgraded with a usb 3.0 header and an 8 pin cpu power so I assume it has a better power phase design then the 5 phase on mine. Oh I see it has mSATA to. Nice!

perfect example for bad copy/paste job

Oh I see it has mSATA to. Nice!
this msata is good only for wifi modules or very special half sized msata ssds (if it it powered properly to run them).

first msi came with 970 gamer mobo, now biostar it rolling out refreshed 970 board.
question is what they know, that we havent heard about yet :wtf:

Meanwhile sub 100$ intel boards have SATA Express and M.2 slots
What really stumps me is that they are refreshing the 970 boards and not the 990x/990fx boards.
Which seems to confirm that there are no new high end AM3+ cpus coming, only budget stuff.

Asrock has a new 990 board and two new 970 boards. One of them is the only matx AMD 9xx board that I know of.

Just saying.

I want to buy AMD CPUs and motherboards but they need to make make it clear which socket is currently actual and which CPUs are current. I know about Intel, it is pretty easy to follow but AMD has new CPUs which still use old socket... A simple rebrand would solve this.

Looks like 8 phase. Should be better than the old 4+1 TA970 I had that wouldn't overclock for beans.
