Installing The AMD Catalyst Software Driver
For detailed instructions on how to correctly uninstall or install the AMD Catalyst Software Suite, please refer to the following support resources:

NOTES

  • This driver is not intended for use on AMD products running in Apple Boot Camp platforms. Users of these platforms should contact their manufacturer for driver support.
  • When installing the AMD Catalyst™ Driver for Windows® operating system, the user must be logged on as Administrator, or have Administrator rights to complete the installation of the AMD Catalyst Driver.
  • The AMD Catalyst 15.3 Beta Software Suite requires Windows 7 Service Pack 1 to be installed.
  • The AMD Catalyst 15.3 Beta Software Suite requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 to be installed. Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 is included in all Catalyst packages.
  • AMD Eyefinity technology is designed to give gamers access to high display resolutions. As pixel count grows, the graphics "horsepower" required to drive the displays at a reasonable frame rate can increase dramatically. Depending on the game and system configuration, users may notice texture corruption and reduced frame rates when running games in multi-monitor Eyefinity modes.

Tried installing 15.3.1 from the battlelog link, won't even detect my Panasonic TV and doesn't even show as current driver version. Tried 15.3b from AMD's site. Seemed to install OK, detects TV, says 15.3 in GPU-Z. Only problem is CCC won't launch. Tried installing again, same problem.

Now reverting back to 14.2 Omegas. Damn, Nvidia is looking better and better. This is total BS.

I thought I was having the same issue. But I managed to get CCC to open. Not sure if it was ending the CCC host application in task manager first. Or clicking on the hidden icon(far right of task bar). Which was kinda odd, because there were 3 of them(CCC icons) when I first unhid them. Then 2 disappeared real quick.

Can someone please help with this? No matter what I can't get CCC to open now.

I keep getting this error:

This happens even with the Omega 14.2 driver that installed fine before with CCC working. I noticed GPU-Z is reading it as 14.12 though.

I always do clean installs, and I even check after reboot using Driver Sweep's Analyse feature to clean up anything that shows, clean it, reboot, then check again. I never install AMD drivers if anything is left showing.

I've tried having CCC as startup and not. Either way it won't launch. I've even tried making a shortcut of CCC.exe and clicking straight on CCC.exe in it's folder. I've also tried a tip I found on a forum where others were having this problem where you right click the Users folder and click General and check Hidden to make sure all AMD's folders are registering in the global settings. That didn't work either.

Can you launch GPU-Z and tell me what driver version it shows? Can you even launch CCC via right clicking desktop and clicking CCC, because I can't? I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to format Windows over this crap, and here I am missing the Gonzaga vs Iowa game. I had a feeling I should have just left the Omegas installed, because unlike many, I had no trouble installing it or using it.

BTW, I check show all icons and notifications for CCC in the taskbar manager and I can['t even get it's icon to show. I see no CCC host application in task manager, just ATI external events service and client modules. Maybe that's the problem, it seems CCC never installs properly now.

Not to patronize, but did you make sure to install the right version? This sounds like something similar I saw before where I accidently downloaded and installed the wrong version for my os. Again, not trying to patronize, but this seems pretty isolated and that's all I can think of. Well that and you said you already ran into troubles trying to install a version from a non official site and I belive that's where your troubles started.

Yes, it was the W7 64 bit version. And plenty others installed the 15.3.1 file from the same site I got it from here. If people were having what you seem to be implying were malware problems with it, I would think others would have indicated the same problem and TPU would have taken the link down.

There's also the fact that plenty have had issues with CCC not launching before, dating back quite a while now. Otherwise you wouldn't see people seeking help for it on popular tech forums and tech heads offering the User subdirectory rebuilding tip like I mentioned above. Which I've tried yet again btw via making them hidden then resetting them according to a Tom's Hardware tech tip that was said to work, and it didn't work either.

It's well known that AMD fubars software on a regular basis. I am pretty much reaching the of my rope with their incompetence. That's why guys like Angel Trinidad rewrote ATI drivers for years by fixing the problems in them, and Guru3D, XtremeSystems, etc tech heads came up with Radeon Pro. Hell, ATI's first uninstaller even was written by Ray Adams, as well as ATI Tray Tools.

There's no such thing as isolated problems with AMD software, it's a regular thing.

when programs with tray icons crash, the icon stays until you mouse over it, so you probably crashed twice

zero issues with CCC not launching and so on, on the various AMD GPU systems in the house.

Software A lot.
Benchmark Scores Its fast. Enough.
No issues here on a 7970 overclocked like a mofo, did a install right over the Omega drivers.

Avast is a dick and its sandbox kept screwing with the install, but that is NOT AMD's fault that Avast is getting worse and worse. Unless the driver calls for a removal of prior install just install over the top, and last I checked only Omega drivers required removing the old first.

With all due respect, I don't need to hear what's already been said. I know it installed fine for some, even without a clean install, but I need to sort this out and I really don't want to format. I use Avast too, but I always disable Sandbox, so that's not it.

The only thing that seems coincidental is I've been getting intermittent Windows Update messages since trying to install these. Two were security updates for Explorer 11 I let go until after trying a couple driver installs. Now I'm seeing 4 more security updates and a couple resolve issues ones.

I'm going to install these updates then just try overwriting 15.3 this time. Hell, if I can't get CCC to work anyway even on 14.2, I may as well try the betas for gaming performance. I guess I can also try using RadeonPro instead of CCC. I usually only ever force 16AF anyway. This just pisses me off though.

Mussels, did you do a clean instal or overwrite? You also never answered whether you used 15.3 or 15.3.1?

OK, thanks, and I'm glad I asked, because I assumed you were using 15.3.1.

Well, for some odd reason, a 3rd or 4th attempt at installing these ( I lost count), actually worked this time without CCC not responding, and I really didn't do anything different. Maybe it was those updates finally having been installed and configured or something.

There is a lot of buzz about CCC now and then doing this though, and many have suggested it's related to Windows updates, public token keys, etc, etc.

Now I can finally test it on Dying Light, Far Cry 4, and AC Rogue. Unity as well, haven't even finished that yet, or Shadow of Mordor or GRID Autosport for that matter. That is unusual for me, I usually finish games.

Thanks for all feedback, well, that which actually pertained and was restrained anyway. LOL

Tried the 15.3 beta driver. Everything but CCC installed fine. Now no matter what version driver I install I get the error:

Application Install: install package failure!

Without CCC my cards will thermal throttle and run hot. HELP MEEEEE.

Tried the 15.3 beta driver. Everything but CCC installed fine. Now no matter what version driver I install I get the error:

Application Install: install package failure!

Without CCC my cards will thermal throttle and run hot. HELP MEEEEE.

what antivirus?
uninstalled and reinstalled? tried a clean upgrade and a dirty over the top one?

AVG antivirus. I turned the Firewall to Allow all for the installation. Did nothing

Uninstalled and reinstalled many times. Even in safe mode.

Tried installing over the top of the fresh install

CCC version: 2014.1120.2123.38423

Says Success even though it failed. Doesn't show up on C: drive or programs list.

Ive installed 14.2 now installing 15.3 over the top (fresh download incase of data corruption somehow). I haven't tried this yet

EDIT: Failed same error.

Might just do a format and reinstall. Overdue for one.

Just lately i find that CCC does not always uninstall fully when removing the drivers so if people are having issues can you go into programs and features and look for CCC uninstall as it tends to show up as its own thing on my system these days but don't know if thats a windows 8.1 thing.

I had no issues with this driver or CCC but i did manualy remove the left over CCC stuff from programs and features before i tried the new beta driver.

its back up after a fresh OS install, or using the driver cleaners?
just looking for more confirmation that the people with issues used driver cleaners in the past.
