Has anyone noticed any observable performance improvemens in BF4 under DirectX? That's probably the only reason why I'd want to ugprade from Omega.

I did read a review somewhere that showed improvements in a number of games.
(sorry, I can't remember which site now)

That's because people are asking a legitimate question. Why can't you run Mantle? It's one of the biggest perks to having the newer drivers and a newer AMD GPU. It's performance that would otherwise go untapped and if you can run it and you simply won't, then that's just ignorance at its finest. On the other hand if there is a reason why it won't work, I think we would all be very interested to hear why it doesn't, or maybe even someone had the same issue if it doesn't work correctly, but keeping it to yourself then getting defensive because someone simply asked "why?" is purely ridiculous.

Considering you're quick to get angry, maybe you should stop posting, or at least stop when all you're going to do is lash out.

On topic: I've found that the 14.12 Omega drivers work flawlessly on my 6870s, Mantle or no Mantle. Not a single driver crash in crossfire, consistent performance, simply no complaints. I'm almost due for a Windows re-install, so I may wait until I do that instead of breaking what already works well unless there is another reason like added features or performance improvements. I would hate to become less stable than I am now.

"Cant" denotes some kind of obstacle preventing you from enabling Mantle.

Of course people want to know what the problem is, thats what we are all here for.

Installed 15.3 on all three of my rigs, bypassed Omega drivers altogether.
Seems to be running well so far, the site did have a list of fixes included since Omega, so they might show an improvement for you.
Edit 30/03/15 I had to revert back to Omega drivers on one of my older systems due to screen glitches, making it practically unreadable.
I'll wait and see what happens now under the Omega drivers, it may be the old GPU card on the way out, but it looks good again now.

nope, but i use chrome. if you have your card OC'd, lower it - OC's are less stable with this version.

I got that message on two of my systems, that I upgraded to the beta driver.
One of them I put back to Omega driver and it runs fine again.
The other rarely does it.
And I am using FF only.

Not had any driver crashes but firefox does suffer from graphical issues now and again but i personlly blame firefox for this.

I'm trying out palemoon now and so far have had no graphical issues at all.

I use to be a big palemoon user, but it is so sluggish in updates. The newer firefox 64 bit betas are way faster from my experience.

I was getting weird glitches I thought were related to the GPU I was using, then it increased to that message about recovering from a crash which I determined were caused by the beta drivers. After reverting to the Omega driver they stopped.
I've since taken that card out due to it being passively cooled and getting too hot.
That particular machine is a dedicated cruncher, so I also had to swap out the xeon processor and use one with onboard graphics.

Well... I'm still on 13.12 so maybe I should upgrade to these.... Is there any rumors around when the official non-beta driver will be released or are these stable enough?

I hope AMD can get that CPU optimization in their graphics drivers nailed soon. I think that is a big part of what's affecting my performance, since I'm on an older CPU.

Phenom II X4 and a 290 here, anything that reduces cpu usage is great in my books

You'd think something so simple like proper panel scaling when using non-native resolutions would be easy, but it has been partially broken for as long as I can remember, and now totally broken since December.

IMO it's not exactly a matter of being stable enough. It's a matter of the drivers causing your card to run slightly hotter. Which makes sense, if you think about it. There's always going to be a trade-off for extra performance(namely more heat generated). But I would think a card running at stock OC speeds should still have more than enough headroom to allow for it without causing instability.

Don't know what you're referring to. I've been using HDMI for video for about 2.5 years now and the scaling feature works fine for me at any res.
