Hmmm....that is weird...I do have the AMD beta drivers installed (v.s. OEM Lenovo drivers) and everything performance optimized ranging from bios settings all the way to catalyst control center settings. But thats almost a %30 gain!

Hey Hoax32 what settings have you changed to recieve a 30% gain in performance? Also, I am only getting a 4.6 on the Windows Experience Index how are you getting a 5.0? I appreciate any advice you can give.

Hi there sorry for the late reply.
Make sure that you are using only a SINGLE memory stick.
Using more than one will throttle down your speed to only 1333Mz.
I am also using the newest Bios and BETA drivers from AMD.

I'm gonna remind you to give us some heads up on 'any improvements' with that 8GB stick...I'm sitting here with 2x4GB 1600MHz Cas11's and I'm considering going for some Cas9's to see if I can get a little improvement myself.

Actually wish we had some sort of APU laptop thread to discuss these things - thoroughly. I absolutely love these APU laptops.

:),

I'm sorry but which settings in bios do I change and to what values? I have no idea what the performance oriented settings are. Also I am using Windows 7 64-bit, do I need to enable "OS Optimized Defaults" from the Restart menu in bios? Thanks for your help.

Disable the AMD power savings option and force your CPU into max frequency under the power management settings in windows 7.
Also disable windows aero to free up graphics memory/system memory/load.
In the Catalyst control center set everything to high performance and disable power savings.

If you mean swapping the APU's, you can't, they are a BGA socket meaning they are soldered on to the Motherboard.
It would be easier and cheaper to replace your laptop.

little (super late) update
Running a Crucial Ballistix single 8GB stick with a super fast 8-8-8-24 CAS :)
Also upgraded to an AMD Radeon 240GB SSD.

Fastest netbook on the planet!
~continous %2 performance bechmark gain from settling with the faster lower CAS Crucial RAM.
~2FPS average gain with resident evil 5 benchmark

Well worth the 4GB to 8GB jump, memory speed and GPU speed for only $50!!
AMD Radeon SSD read is ~20mbps faster than the previous SSD
