Hey guys,
a day ago swapped my 5870 for a 7950 which is running great, but i am somewhat unsatisfied by 3dmark firestrike score (around 6100 graphics) with FX-8320.
I wanted to document more about the BIOS version I have, which is 015.022.005.001600 (113-C3860701-100)...
I cant seem to find it anywhere on the web, and if I try to submit it, it says that this BIOS is already on the online database, 149560.rom, but I can't seem to find it.
I want to mention that its a reference AMD card. Can somebody help with a newer BIOS or something? I dont need boost bios, this one has default clocks of 800/1250 mhz.
Plz help with my bios :) thanks

That's odd. I can't find it either. But it's not very likely going to do anything beneficial for performance to update it anyway.

I know that, but I would prefer a regular version instead of a dodgy one. I also have like other throttling issues, like running furmark without powercontrol would get my frequency oscilating from 750-770-800 like, you know... And thats with normal temperatures. (60 degrees, 70 max)
Even with powercontrol i get from 46 FPS first to 42-43... so throttling makes me mad. I noticed that 015.022.005 is a 7970 BIOS version, but with last string 000000 instead of 1600... could be a moded bios by someone? I dont know...
Also at the end of the card it's monted like a metal stick, with holes for screws, like 3-4 cm long, does that have a role?

It could be a modded BIOS, I don't know either. And I don't know everything there is to know about 7950s. So I can't answer your questions specifically. You could try flashing a different BIOS. Though I wouldn't recommend it, at this point. Since I'm about as in the dark as to what's up with your card as you are. You might have a greater chance of bricking it. I mean if it's running on some strange BIOS, maybe it's supposed to. If it ain't broke, and IMO it ain't, then don't fix it.

Furmark will cause any card to throttle it's not a recommended "Benchmark" if you can even call it that...

6100 seems about right for a HD7950 in firestrike as i only get 7721 Graphics Score with a HD7970 and a core i5 2550K @4200mhz, my overall score is 6656.

It may be that the Bios has been dumped to the server but it has not been approved yet for the database, some weeks there could be literally 100+ dumps and they have to be checked, currently I think W1z is the only one that checks them so it may take a while, he is a busy man.

It's definitely a 7950 going by the device I.D.
The current BIOS may have been flashed on to it in the hope of gaining extra performance.
Based on the 149560.rom, the BIOS is fairly new, probably from a R9 280 as the 7950, 7970 and R9 280 are basically the same.
Unfortunately I cannot find exactly what card it came from.

Pretty sure this is the correct BIOS, according to all details:

that scores look right for the 7950 to me too.

you should invest your time into finding ways to cool it better rather than hoping a bios will fix the throttling issue dude. as that is a cooling issue not firmware.

Yeah, well thanks for all the feedback guys.
I can't say my card is not cooled enough, I have a Zalman Z11 plus with two lower intake fans, two upper exhaust fan, or one intake, one exhaust, can't remember for sure, and another exhaust in the back. The fan won't go high up because it can't get even in furmark above 73 degrees maybe with fan on auto.
If you guys say the futuremark score is ok, I go along with it and I'm fine with it since I don't have problems with it, just thought it's strange.
Best forum love u guys
