Hello guys

I have two sticks of 4GB DDR4 ADATA XPG 1600 mhz XMP ready memory.

Now i let stock my CPU ( Turbo boost 4.4 Ghz ) with 1.26 Volt so no OC at atll.

But when i enable XMP from the UEFI bios my VRM gets really hot and need a fan that blow fresh air or becomes hot that you cant let your finger on it.

When XMP is off the VRM section is very cold.

My RAM still runs at 799 mhz without XMP but the latency is higher 11.0/11/11/28 1T

My question is there any other brands that have ram memory that runs with good short latency like 9 without the need of extreme memory profile ?

I want minimum 1600 mhz ram sticks.

Thank you for any help.

You could set the timings manually in BIOS without enabling XMP. May take some tinkering but should run without much trouble at the XMP timings.

I will try but I do not know if the VRM will warm up again.

But why does the XMP profile, make the VRM section so hot ?

Likely because it isn't just changing the voltage to the ram, causing more stress in general with tighter timings, a few factors come into play. Like what sort of cooler, an AIO/Custom Loop will make an increase a bit more dramatic as unlike with a tower style air cooler, there should be some flow offered to those heat sinks.

Hopefully someone like @cadaveca stops by this thread, he would be the guy to chat about this with.

I did this.

The problem is, i run the system without the side panels so the air is not sucked out, but simply passed.

I have to close the case to have the necessary pressure so that the fan exhausts heat.

I like my Evga Hadron but you cant simply put in the best hardware without sacrificing other things like a good cooling.

With good cooling i mean watercooling.

When XMP is enabled, your CPU is OC'd as well. 1.26V for stock is crazy. should be well below 1.2V.

Anyway, when you enabled XMP on your board, CPU speed, Cache speed are increased as well as voltage boosts to vCore, vInput, vCCSA and vCache, accounting for the temperature increases you see.

Now, unless you have stability or throttling issues, temps aren't something you should worry about. Really. Because that's what happens when they are.. throttling and then stability issues are the result of temperatures too high.

Where do you have the AIO's radiator? You should not have cooling problems. Leaving the sides off kills the "wind tunnel" design of that case. It's obvious that they designed that case to have air flow in the bottom and out the top. You have a ~100 watt CPU and a ~75 (being very generous) GPU. With the 2 120 MM fans that come with that case, you should have no problems keeping it cool. Looks like you took the 120's out and installed an AIO - therefore, no air flow through the case. You might be hurting yourself by using water cooling in a case designed for air cooling. Go check out EVGA's video on this case and what they stuffed in it with air cooling. LINK Water cooling is superior to air cooling, but only if done correctly. If I were in your shoes, I'd try to find a downward blowing air cooler to push air across that very crowded motherboard.

Actually im testing this case to spot strong/weak points already did some mods like removing the HDD cage, and yes i know is better go with Air cooled CPU heatsink because the top 2 fans do a great job exhausting the hot air.

But i have my build project for watercooling, all i can say that i will mount a 2x120mm radiator on the right side panel this is all i can say about.

Im waiting for some stuff that i need then i will start to drill the case.

I will post detailed pics in the ATM thread.

Here is the actual state.

I disabled the XMP so will not cook the VRM section. When is all done with the side panel i will re enable the XMP.

XMP can boost other voltages, so do it manually and see how you go for heat.

you might be able to find an in-between setting that gives you better speeds than now, without the excess heat.

Why not the Hadron Hydra?

The Evga Hadron Hydro was not available in my country.

I like to mod and i already have my project. Better than the Hadron Hydro. :D

LOL is temporary, i know is a mess but you will see soon many improvements.

Thank you Mussels i will give a try.

You should've seen mine before I went modular...
