Hello. I went from 344.75 WHQL to newest drivers 347.88 WHQL and now i have random driver crashing in Far Cry 4. Nvlddmkm Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Application stopped. Then i saw on events: Nvlddmkm Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Its very random .
Its problem with driver or my its just my card? ( i am using stock Asus Strix 980 ). All other games runs without even single crash. I tested Unigine Heaven for 10 hours, without crash. I tested Metro Last Light for few hours without crash too.

Using 344.75 WHQL all was fine.

All my pc is stock, cpu is 4790k stock. GPU is on stock too.

From what i know, crashing display driver Nvlddmkm its always graphic card ( hardware ) failure? Rma graphic card?
TDR's are always happening because of "bad/broken" hardware?Or it can be software too?

Hi

Posted 189 messages and still not filled in system specs! go here fill in hardware manufacturers make model and OS: this will help other members of the TPU community to assist further; with that out of the way.

Look here for Nvidia Hotfix [will see that TDR has been addressed in driver] this is game specific, however answers one of the questions raised.

TDR can be coursed by the following
*
Drivers
Loose or poorly fitted Power Cables
vga card seated incorrectly or poor/damaged PCIE slot
PSU failing
or OS registry errors

TDR General info here
TDR registry trick look here for general info [more info on the www]

Vga card works with all other games and applications with 347.88 but failed with FarCry4 I would suspect FC4 poor coding;
[if previous driver worked use that until the next game ready driver is released]
Could Try

power down and reseat vga card
uninstall and deep clean vga driver [use DDU or other software's]
**reinstall latest vga driver or last stable driver [**test system use default clock speeds]
reinstall DirectX

Note: *If the vga card was working as intended by the manufacturer with 344.75 WHQL [go back to using them]

Note: If the system hangs repeatedly again and again; test the vga card in another system that is known to be stable and complies with vga power requirements.

Note: after testing vga card in another system if same raise a ticket and RMA if still under warranty

On 344.75 WHQL i dont get any driver crash. Only on 347.88 WHQL i have random driver crashes on Far Cry 4. Is this related to game\software or just stock OC of my card is not stable fully?
I am asking because from what i know TDR's are always happening because of "bad/broken" hardware. Or i am wrong?

Hi

On 344.75 WHQL i dont get any driver crash.
So use this driver as it is stable in all applications and games
Only on 347.88 WHQL i have random driver crashes on Far Cry 4. Is this related to game\software or just stock OC of my card is not stable fully?
[Nvidia put their hands up and released a hotfix] Due to some users getting random TDR's with 347.88 Whql this may or may not be related to FC4 coding or DirectX, DotNet or VC could all course an application to hang
I am asking because from what i know TDR's are always happening because of "bad/broken" hardware. Or i am wrong?
so what part of this was not understood; have already addressed this in previous post

No: TDR's are not always coursed by hardware; am not sure my post was read fully

Yes, but on 350 release note there are only info about Dragon Age I TDR crashes. Nothing about Far Cry 4 TDR crashes. Anyway try 350 hotfix?

ask a friend to assist to help U understand what I have written - open the links to MS that I posted and read them
On 344.75 WHQL i dont get any driver crash.
U have been told "So use this driver as it is stable in all applications and games"

Listen last time.

Somebody say:"Another popular thing is when nVidia optimizes the driver, and it pushes the card even harder and reveals a card crash, then people blame the driver, when the new driver is simply revealing a problem with the card."
So i have propablly card issue when on 347.88 i have driver crashing only on Far Cry 4? Because driver pushes the card harder and is simply revealing a problem with card. It can be true?

Try not to forget U are the one asking for help ;) please and thanks go a long way in this forum

So i have propablly card issue when on 347.88 i have driver crashing only on Far Cry 4? Because driver pushes the card harder and is simply revealing a problem with card. It can be true?
If this is TRUE and that is a big if; set the core and memory of the vga card to reference clock speeds and voltage, test the card with FC4 and monitor temps, GPU and Memory usage with MSI Afterburner.

Note:
post screen shots from GPU-Z and MSI Afterburner

[it is possible Nvidia just screwed up this driver for that release]
Note: Nvidia release Game Ready Drivers; they are tested to work with games that are released [not all issues are fixed, even though they use a UDA (universal driver architecture) different versions of the driver branches are worked on by multiple teams (347.88 Uses Driver branch [r346_00-386]) ;.. so having the latest driver dose not guarantee that it will be stable in all applications

TBH: reinstall FC4 and all related software runtimes [including but not limited to DirectX, DotNet or VC]

My max temps are 71C during Far Cry 4 , so its very good temp. GPU core boost is 1324 mhz. Let be clear.
On 344.75 WHQL i was play maybe 200 hours without driver crash. On 347.88 WHQL i was get 2 driver crash of maybe 24 hours of play.
But i am worried because somebody said:"Another popular thing is when nVidia optimizes the driver, and it pushes the card even harder and reveals a card crash, then people blame the driver, when the new driver is simply revealing a problem with the card.""
So if this is true 347.88 is pushing card harder and maybe revealing a problem with card?
Ok i can back to 344.75 WHQL but on 347.88 WHQL card is not stable because card is pushing harder and it can be faulty card.
What you think?

Hi

What you think?
I think you have not understood anything that I have advised; or actioned anything that I have asked for, thus I am out of here

Note: you have been given solid advice and enough information to make an informed decision of your own

I installed 350 HOTFIX. Far Cry 4 played 24 hours without driver crash. So on 347.88 my card is just unstable? Is this because driver 347.88 pushing my card harder and card is unstable? Or its was only driver issue?
