There is nothing wrong with Chinese websites ripping data and storeys from Western sites, as long as they give credit. Don't forget folks, the internet in China is heavily regulated and many Chinese have zero access to Western sites.

which is fine bansaku but when they straight up rip my photos put their own watermarks over them steal all my data and summarize the entire review, on a site that generates money from the hits on that content, Thats basically theft. Now if they gave a proper source where they got it and linked to the review in question I wouldn't care. But instead they decided to lift the review and content.

In fact they took the extra effort to lift it and brand it as their own which takes MORE time and MORE effort than actually just linking a source and summarizing.

worst part is no telling how many reviews they have ripped off, using google translate some links dont work and browsing their backlog of reviews proves to be less than easy. I am more curious now to see how much of my content they stole.

Even the most sincere form of flattery is insulting. @W1zzard ... just my opinion but watermarks would be welcomed.

that really is all about your outlook dude. i mean i would see it as them stealing the best myself, not as an insult. no argument about it being theft either.

was just helping out, DMCA generally doesn't work to China. I used to get ddosed often from Asia but I got it sorted out with government in the country it came from "cough"japan"cough"
wasn't easy tho
Any proof it came from my country? How do I know you did not make it up?

First, China is notoriously known for rerouting the attacks through servers located outside China, usually through several if not many countries. Servers located in my country and South Korea are often used as nodes because they are the nearest. Amateurs and inexperienced investigators will be fooled and they will stupidly claim they found the source, quickly jump into conclusions and blame the country they thought to be the origin while actually they did not and could not find the real source of attack. Professional investigators will not stop at these nodes like those clueless people, but continue to trace through the nodes until they find the real source of attack, however long and difficult it will be. China has been using this tactic of nodes as pseudo identity for long time but unfortunately many people never knew or heard about this before.

And we Japanese usually are blamed for something we actually do not and probably never do. We are the victims of China's cyber attack, enduring many of them every year, not any other way around.

Second, DDoS attack is used against and affects a server or multiple servers, or in other words network resources used by users, not the users themselves, not even a single user, however famous one may be. I apologise for saying this but unless you own or run a server, honestly I find it very difficult if not impossible to believe your claim that you used to get DDoS attacked by someone or some people.

Third, suggesting DDoS attack is never a wise thing. A wrong thing against a wrong thing does not make it right. A DDoS attack against the server hosting the website will cripple it and prevent anybody from using it properly and normally, including innocents who have their websites hosted on the server and clearly have no idea what is going on. A wise person never burns the entire rice field just to kill a rat.

I apologise if my words offend you, but I feel obliged to make things clear, particularly anything regarding my country.

There is nothing wrong with Chinese websites ripping data and storeys from Western sites, as long as they give credit. Don't forget folks, the internet in China is heavily regulated and many Chinese have zero access to Western sites.
It is wrong. They rarely give credit to other people's work, if ever. And I am speaking from experience. As for the ripping and watermark, it is what many Chinese often, if not always do. I am working as a photo editor in a media company that publish magazines and we always find our photos or magazine pages shared publicly in some chinese forums with watermark on them, as if they are the one who made it. If we put our own watermark, they either crop the photo to remove our watermark, or if our watermark is small, they simply cover it by putting their own watermark on top of ours. The same thing can be said regarding videos too. Many of Chinese do not have time to respect or acknowledge your hard work, but they always have all the time in the world to steal it and claim it as their own.

And quite the contrary, actually it is very easy to access western websites in China. You can browse internet like many people do if you live in China assuming you have at least a mobile phone or a pc and internet access. But if you live outside of China, it will be difficult to access Chinese websites sometimes. The Great Firewall was designed to limit access from outside China and control the internet traffic inside the country.

@W1zzard
I regret to hear this issue happens to you and your staff. But unfortunately I cannot give an effective solution. My coworkers and I are facing the same problem ourselves. Perhaps a sticky "front page" article about this honorless thief and shameless things he keeps doing will attract attention from many people, including similar tech websites? If DMCA notice sent to the website owner cannot produce a satisfying result, perhaps giving the website owner his 15 minutes of infamy could help? Other similar websites will take notice and you can team up with them to deal with the issue together. I sincerely hope you and your staff can find a way to solve it. Peacefully, of course. And if possible, no blood or missing teeth. The thief needs to eat too, after all.

To China? lulz
most ISPs honor it, even if they don't have US legislation. It's a well-defined way to report stolen content that everybody knows how to deal with or can find more info on Google.
