Hello guys.

I own a GTX 980 that you can see on my system specs, she's on RMA for testing because of hardcore coil whine i had on it, suddenly appeared...

The store will give me two options tomorrow: Exchange my GTX 980 for another one MSI, exchange for Asus Strix GTX 980 (It costs more 39€), or give me the option of return the card and get my money back (608,90€).

My question here is, should i keep this GPU or wait for GTX 980TI since here in this website they say GTX 980TI is going to be released on May.

Best regards all!

Tough one. It all depends can you survive on integrated graphics for a month or even more ... if yes, then yes get your money back, prepare yourself to add a hundred or two to the stash and preorder the card at local shop, somehow I suspect it will be very wanted.

I quite pleased with Asus Strix so that would be my recommendation.

I've already waited 3 months without GPU while i had games to play on my Xbox One, then i completed everything i was getting crazy because i really wanted to play the games i left behind on PC that's why i bought a GPU, i was getting crazy without GPU and only playing League of legends and nothing else everyday, i don't wanna go throw that again since i have a lots of games to play.
The thing is, 650€ was the max of the max i could spend for a GPU, i don't wanna spend any more cent on this. I believe GTX 980TI will go around 800€ no ?

I quite pleased with Asus Strix so that would be my recommendation.

You own a Asus Strix GTX 980?

Put up with integrated graphics for a while ( no back up spare card ? )

save some more cash

wait until the GTX 980TI has been released and is on general sale

there will be price cuts on "" Lesser cards "" after the release of the GTX 980TI

Real world reviews and "Reliability Issues" not currently known will influence your decision on if this is the card for you

Always get your money back. You're then free to do what you like with it and have more consumer rights if something goes wrong later.

Try and wait for the 980 Ti, I think.

No, my job is to assemble pc's and to make sure that all parts work as they should. In my experience Strix works well.

I don't have spare card sadly, and like i said it's hard for me to wait again so much time for a GPU, GTX 980 feels my needs as it runs everything on ultra easily on 1080P@144Hz and i believe 980TI is going to cost more then 640€ right? If yes, i'm not wiling to pay that extra, just don't ... I never bought such a expensive GPU as i just did with 980 it was hard to put out so much money just to play the games at full max.

There are no coil whine stuff on Asus Strix 980 ? As it seems more affective and sensible ones are the MSI.

I would still advise the same wait until its released
Prices on Quote "Lesser cards" should Drop

If i remember correctly i got a little whine with Farcry 3 but otherwise it was fine. There will always be some sort of coil whine, until its not very loud, your GPU is fine.
Sad thing is that even the smallest coil whine is very annoying to most people.

PS: Asking for 39€ is a scumbag move if the shop cant give you same brand then they should give you other brand without extra cost.

This is just my 2 cent's:
39€ is too much for the same card only different brand. I would go for the money back option. If you waited this long what is a month or less. You will get your money back and when the 980Ti comes out and it's out of your budget you can get a 980 again and choose whatever brand you want.

You cpu's integrated graphics is enough to play LOL just not on max but still you can play.
EDIT: MY bad I just see you only played LOL well here's some games that can run on intel HD graphics:

I'm one of those people because i got a very sensitive earing, as you can see my PC is fully build for silence, and playing with buzzing on my ears at night, it's just the worse thing ever for me...

I have tons of games to play, really tons ... I'm without GPU for 3 days and i'm already driving crazy again because i wanna play , the only thing i can play now is LoL and i'm getting 100% bored of it. It's hard for me to wait a lot again for GPU :\

As you're going stir crazy without a proper graphics card, you could do a lot worse than pick up Unreal Tournament 2004 for a little money on Steam. It will run well on an IGP and is still a fantastic game - so much so that I still play it a lot even now. I just love the deathmatch mode and fragging bot after bot after bot - it just never gets old for me. :D

As far as the price of the 980 Ti goes I can't say, but my 780 Ti cost me £500 and I'll bet it's not cheaper than that and likely to be more with the way NVIDIA is pricing things nowadays.

I will only accept the refund if the GTX 980TI comes a lot expensive (more than 650€), otherwise i'm going to keep GTX 980 since there's no better GPU on market atm for the price.

See it that way - the 980Ti will be a TitanX with 6GB and the same (or more likely) higher clockspeeds for an estimated price of around 700 - 800€. Now compare the Titan to your 980 and decide, if ~30% more performance is worth the wait and +200€.

Edit:

There is also the EVGA step up programm.

If it's worth the waiting for the 30% + perfomance? Yes. If it's worth the 200€ more? Just no, i wont spend a lot more on a GPU, just don't. That's just nuts IMO, specially for those who spend a lot on TitanX.

It really seems like you have answered your own question. 1.) You say you can't wait anymore and 2.) You don't want to spend anymore money. The 980 TI is undoubtedly going to cost more than the 980.

Do like me wait for the 980 Ti.

Will be sell at undoubtedly lower price than Titan.

For this year is the definitive GPU.

Or , i could get a GTX 970 saving 200€. Is it enough for 1080p@144hz ultra settings even with those 3.5issues ?
