Usually I d say get yourself a "cheap" 2500K on eBay and OC it to 4.5 GHz, but your mainboard doesnt support OC. So if you are still happy with the performance I would wait with upgrading till ~september at least for Intels new Skylake platform. The Z170 chipset will bring some big (for Intel) improvements when it comes to the number of PCIe lanes connected to the PCH (aka southbridge).

You currently have a H61 chipset. So getting a i5 2500K and overclocking it is not an option. Save your money for a Z97. With a i5 4790K / 4690K and a good Z97 board. You will benefit about 10 to 20% in GPU performance in some games. Some games will have no improvement. If you want an immediate performance update get an SSD

cant remember life without ssd

looks like OP already have a 250gb SSD, but another dedicated to games would hurt got that myself, sure it loads faster for me, but overall i don't feel much of a difference while playing tbh.

I thought I didn't see an SSD my bad. I remember the old days (old man voice) "when I was a lad we had to wait for platters to spin up to get a game to load"

As others stated, you should just wait a bit longer as your CPU is not going to be much if any of a bottleneck in a gaming scenario. It is getting on in age especially at its current clocks, however I would wait for Skylake and just buy a new motherboard and CPU at that point (Possibly with the intention of overclocking).

hello!! :D

what motherboard did you order? it's important to take always in consideration how many benefits can you get from the chipset you are ordering, not all Intel chipsets offers the same features, Overclock feature is pretty important for many people, that may make your rig a little more "Future Proof", will make your processor last a while more working but you will need more cooling for protecting it against the barren heat,

unfortunately your system cannot be overclocked for taking advantage of your processor full capacities, because old sandies like i5 2500K and its dad i7 2600K and 2700K are still solid units over Z68 and z77 chips, excellent overclockers and pretty responsible for gaming,

What do you want to do? how much money do you have for the project and pretty much important, where do you live?

Regards,

Regards,
thank you for great help and thanks for caring poor man like me :p
in india everything is expensive, for example i bought my asus strix gtx 970 for 510$ and its the latest price, and gtx 980 is for 800$
so you can expect, :)
yes my cpu cant overclock, but i think buying a new cheap mobo which is big in size and have feature which i needed, isnot in current mobo,
my current mobo p8h61-m lx3 r2.0 is very very small, when i put my GPU on it, 2 sata ports gets covered by gpu so i can only use 2 ports(total 4)
im also using ssd which is sata 3 supportable, and current mobo doesnt support sata 3, also i need usb 3 ports.. :)
India is very hot country, the summer hasbeen started and starting is like fire..
my CPU temp gets 70-80 easily with stock cooler, thats why i never used it, with Coolers master Evo 212 heat sink, temp gets down to 50-55,
but i always i have to remove 1 ram to fit the fan on heat sink otherwise i have to put it wrong direction, + mobo is too small, chasis exhaust back fan taken too much space, i can very difficult add fan on heat sink, because of these problem i decided to buy new mobo,
but its so cheap i think its not gonna decrease my buget since waiting for skylake, GAPE of months will make more money too,
i will recover in these gap months.. :)
i ordered Gigabyte-GA-B75M-D3H costs 70$
http://www.amazon.in/Gigabyte-GA-B7...rboard/dp/B007R9CRGW/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

and for more info the price of i5 4440 costs 213$ in india(13000INR)
and i5 4670k 280$ (18000+INR) WITHOUT MOBO

if i buy z77 mobo which costs 250$ in india, it will kill my budget :)
+ i5 2310 cant overclock..
im non overclocker, actually i have no time to overclock, i just want 60 fps stable in every heavy game which im getting.. but thought of upgrading CPU because i dont like old things,
since you guys suggested me very honestly, all people said to keep it " buying new one will not make difference" so im going to you guys, will wait for skylake,
when skylake will arrive i will basically buy skylake cpu with normal cheap regular mobo, but still cant say may be i get great thing at great deal..

you are not poor since you can move, walk and love computers :D

Well as I told before, and also I'm pretty sure that your locked i5 still capable of some heavy gaming, maybe it may last a year more helping you to save more money, skylake is not going to be cheap for sure, DDR4 still expensive because is new, recently launched, and also video cards are in the point that a vendor offers a little bit more for less money due market race and competition so this will give the customer a little advantage choosing, but choosing wisely,

I hope you can get more from the computer, and also always take in consideration that AMD makes good processors for less money, pretty power hungry bitches but pretty capable,

Regards,
