I wasn't able to access Newegg earlier and I went with info from a different site on that Seasonic but there may be an issue with needing two 8 pin connectors for the card you want. There are two 8 pin connectors on the back of the PSU but the specs say one 6+2 pin and one 6 pin. It may be that the supplied cables aren't both 6+2 pin so now I'm not sure if the Seasonic will work for what you want.

AH is that so?? hmm.. what about an adapter? Don't some GPUs come with an 8-pin adapter that can be attached to the PSU???

The M12 II 620 has 2x 6+2pin PCIE connectors as long as you make sure it's the EVO model and not the original

Okay I got the CPU today and all seems to be well.
I didn't get a rock or waste or anything bad inside so I'm delighted :L

Noowwwww, what aftermarket cooler should I be buying for this? and thermal compound??
I only need an average one, not the ultra best for mega overclocking! I only intend on doing 4.2-4.4Ghz I'd say and I do want it to stay pretty cool under load if possible ^^

What would thee recommend??

Edit: Just to let yee know that the max height for the CPU cooler is 158mm!

I find Arctic MX-2 to be price/performance worthy. (the 4 gram package goes for under 7 euro).
Close to it (a bit more expensive) is the Noctua NT-H1 (3.5 grams for about 8 euro). You can get away with less quantity from another good paste, I just think in long term MX-2 is a good bet.

CPU cooler: i5+ overclock+158mm

, nice start, may be budget as well?

Budget is one of those things that I tend to not mention for some reason but I shall let you know right away!

Budget would be 30-40 euro if possible

50+ if there's a proper awesome reason to do so

I would recommend a Noctua NH-U9.... they may be a little on the pricey side but they're excellent performers and just a treat to install

and they come with the 2nd TIM that @IZKoce recommended, saving you from needing to buy TIM separately

Cheers lads, I think I will go with the cooler master evo 212 as it's affordable and offers good performance ^^

I've seen that video already and that's a very nice case!
I already bought the case I was after as it went on sale with free shipping.
It should have been 83 euro in total and only paid 55 bucks in the end! I also just received the case an hour ago and it's lovely looking, very happy with it ^^

Howdy lads yet again!

Just letting yee know that I've now got a motherboard ordered from ebay again.
It's the MSI Z97s SLI KARIT EDITION for 83.07 euro as a second hand buy.
Not to shaby I think? I hope that's a decent motherboard?

Now I've only the PSU + RAM + HDD + 3 case fans to go ^^
I should be able to purchase them all on Thursday from komplett.ie as I cannot find any good bargains or deals for the rest of these components! So it looks like I'll just buy them new

I would like to add that the M12II Evo gets quite noisy under load in my opinion. I know it's about personal sensitivity and preference, and it could be quiet for others, so just my two cents. :toast:

That Adda fan does more than 50 dBA when it's spinning at 100% (regardless of its spec which only states 43 dBA-ish iirc). It does almost 30 dBA at medium load, and that's way too much for me... but again... I know that's nothing for the majority of people, hence I said it's about personal preference. I never said it's a bad PSU, not at all, I just wanted to give info for the OP, I only had good intentions.

Noise annoys me! It better not get loud! but I'm used to my laptop making some vicious noise while gaming so I doubt this new desktop build will bother me at all!

and yep you can't go wrong with a Seasonic (well you can ... but less than with some shady cheap brand :roll:

i have mine in a AIR 540 (Corsair... luckily they do good cases and fans, not a big fan of the brand tho

) but as i have a 750w i think i have some margin before going full load ... even by adding a 2nd 290 and clocking it like the first one i have (1100/1400) would not bring that PSU on her knees (close to, but in extreme cases

) but a single 290 is plenty even now :roll:

30dBA is silent (virtually) and a PSU will rarely get to 100% load so you will be far from 50dBA

and don't worry ... the end of my post was not aimed at you

i didn't implied that you said that PSU was bad :toast:

well I skimmed the thread, I didn't see where you told him to get a 290 this close to launch (1-2 weeks away)

I would advise you take back the 290 and if that's the card you want, buy it again after the new range has been released and it is at its new price point.

I have my 290x under water and it still reaches 60degrees gaming @1080p on a warm day so its not the card to get unless im missing some vital aspect of this build I don't know about...

I bought a HIS R9 280x Iceq x2 edition for 133 used so that will do for now

I do plan to get a 380x or 390 when they pop out after a few months still!

60° under water for a 290X? wow my 290 @1100/1400 rarely reach 44°+ (under water) gaming @1080p (skyrim heavy moded + ENB) the only time i got 60°+ was with the stock (ref) cooler with the horrible hamster wheel fan @65% permanent :roll:

(non ref model are quieter and cooler tho) aherm technically 60° is cool (for a aircooled with a ref stock cooler

)
edit: they recommended him a 290 but since no good prices he went for a 280 (pretty quick to see, the thread has only 2 page ...

also for the launch well yes waiting could be good but even a 280 hold the line ... since the 290/290X are the 970/980 counterpart and the Titan X and upcoming 980Ti are lined to be the 390/390X (otherwise why AMD plan to re use Hawaii for the 380

answer:because that card still hold quite well against the actual gen!) also the 290 already got a nifty price drop ... where i live the 290 is between a 960 and a 970 price (closer to the 960 tho)

well you might also get a 290 now and poof you have a 380 (ok minus the improvement that should be done on the 290 to make the 380

) 133$ is a good price for a 280, i got my 290 for 190$ (not counting the loop and block for the watercooling, but altogether it cost me less than a custom model 290 even at the actual price) actually even if i wait on the 3xx anouncement to see what it will bring, i might also wait the next next gen ... as i suspect that my 290 is still up for another 2yrs (or not

It really all comes down to how well the 300 series performs I suppose!
I would want to get the 390 as it should offer the best gaming performance available ^^
But I dunno yet! We shall see what we all think about them hopefully next month ^^

I agree, 30Db in a laptop at arms length is louder than 30Db in a case under a desk, it is basically white noise and not noticeable.
