GTX 960 ?s

so I cant afford to get a GTX 970 now for my new build if I get a 960 will I be good to run most games and most of the new ones I will use the 960 for a few months till I can afford a better GPU.

If you are just going to replace it, why bother buying a new gpu? you can get geforce 760s cheap on ebay, and/or something from the 600 series, or the r9 280 or 290 series, all cheaper than a 960.

Honestly, the GTX960 is a great GPU for 1080p. If you aren't getting a new monitor, then you might get more than a few months out of it. You might find you are perfectly happy with it and there really isn't a need to upgrade until you upgrade your monitor to a higher resolution.

im going to stick with the monitor I have now asus 27 inch 1080p nothing special, as long as the 960s can play new games and all the others I be good and plus im buying it before the witcher 3 comes out so I can get that game for free. and I know the 960 will run the witcher 3 with no problems, there be new gpus next year or this year im sure that's even better then the 980s

GTX 960's are excellent 1080p gamer cards but you can also look at some alternatives at the same price point if $200 is your budget.

For instance, right here is an R9 280X DD (With lifetime warranty) for the same price right now as a GTX 960 and that will give you more performance over a GTX 960.

Just some food for thought, but either way you should be fine in the long run with either card though at 1080p.

Well it just comes down to how much you want to spend on the card currently/have to spend. Hoenstly if your doing 1080p, R9 280+ or GTX 770/960+ will handle your needs just fine in that price range.

But if it was me, I would probably spend the little more and get the full 280X. Also since your in the U.S, why not go for newegg.com like my links showed as they have some excellent sales on cards right now including the 280X I linked from XFX.

Same price as a GTX960? The card you posted is $257, $277 before MIR, that is more like $50 more than a GTX 960. That is 25% more cost for 10% more performance. Not exactly what I call a good deal.

If you are going to be spending that type of cash, I'd just spend the $30-50 more and go straight to the 970 or 290X. At least the performance would be more in line with the money you are putting out. It would be ~50% more performance for ~50% more money.

Not worth it, those are extreme oc gpus mostly meant for people pushing on ln2, heavy liquid, etc. they do not offer that much better oc over a standard 980 except under extreme conditions.

At that, I would get a regular gtx 980 or a 295x2 over that.

Another option for you if you want to get a 960 for now and then later upgrade to a 970 or 980 as money permits is to buy an EVGA 960 then use their step up program.

I'm not familiar with it personally, but I've heard others on forums talking about it. If nothing else maybe someone who has used this can provide their input, or at least it's something you can look into yourself.

No, just The Witcher 3 on the 960. To get The Witcher 3 and Arkham Knight you have to buy a 970 or 980.
Giving away $120 in games on a $200 card would be extremely generous.
