Yeah I didn't know where to post this, but I had a very strange occurrence with Amazon today.
I've recently signed up for their 1 month free trial of Prime, and have ordered some little stuff here and there, including a rather nice rice cooker/steamer, and some gaming glasses.
Today I went to pick up the stainless steel strainer I bought for rinsing the rice, which was placed in USPS' lock box, only to find another mysterious box, the contents of which I was unaware of.
Being as the shipping address was correct, I opened it. To my surprise it was a LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Attack on Avengers Tower building toy. Sure I used to love fiddling with LEGO blocks as a kid, but those days are long gone.
I quickly checked my bank account to see if it had been charged, and my list of Amazon orders, just in case it was somehow a mistake order. Sorry Amazon, I don't drink anymore, and I made no such order.
There's nothing in my bank account, or Amazon account showing it, and Amazon has no info on it. The tracking shows up on USPS, but other than that, it's as if it's a ghost order.
I checked the place it came from, Modern Everyday, but oddly enough though showing other LEGO items, they don't show this on their site. Nor are they listed on the product page on Amazon as a sub vendor. They DO have an Amazon store though.
The gal on the phone at Amazon when I asked said they do not give out free random gifts to Prime trial members, so we're both baffled by this. She did say to just keep it though, and is sending me an email to verify there's to be no charge.
At this point I'm not sure whether to try and relive the kid in me, and assemble a decorative and functional piece of nerd art for my living room, or just give it to one of the neighbor kids. I DO happen to love The Big Bang Theory TV show, maybe it will help me relate to the characters more. Though they'd probably just keep it in the box to ensure it stays in mint condition.
On a side note, I don't know whether to be slightly paranoid about this or not. What do you guys think? Should I call my bank and give them a heads up just in case, or just pass it off as a mysterious clerical error?
Sorry for the slight off topic ramblings, but I thought some gamers might get a kick out of it, especially considering I'm 57.
