@FreedomEclipse crashes? Using the newest drivers I'm guessing? No crashes here on 780 or 970. Both using the same drivers from right before the GTA 5 special driver release.

Yeah, this game is a massive massive time sink. The world is supposed to be 2 or 3 times Skyrim, and with wide-ranging freedom (mostly) to do what you want...it's gonna be months. That's ok with me, I enjoy the journey, not the end!

fresh patch v1.03 that i was able to download a few minutes ago considerably increased my fps, the also added a slider for "sharpening" in post-process.

I got about 10+ fps stable increase which allowed me to enable AA and Blur and new sharpening to High. Grass density, foilage distance and Hairworks still bad when maxxed out :D

Guess I'll be downloading the new patch when I get home. But truthfully, I haven't found anything that needs "fixing."

I'm thinking I will download, but will hold off on installing it. I'll have it in standby just in case.

Sweet, right when I can finally start playing it now review deadlines are past! Will probably spend the night benchmarking for next week, so I can maybe upload my charts a week early.

Yeah, past there. But everything I wanted him to craft, his level was too low to craft. Thanks tho, I'll keep looking.

Easiest way to get the Blinders, a Racing Saddle and something else is to find the notice board that gives you the Valen: Horse Racing side quest. Beat all three dudes and you'll have those items!

Very, very helpful! I had no idea there was even horse-racing in here. I imagine it's on all those twisty-turny single-horse wide trails? Should prove interesting!

On a related note, I have gotten good at striking from horseback while cantering and it's pretty effective. Usually I can take out an opponent before Roach's fear level gets too high.

No. I just play the game from desktop. I'm not a big fan of forced patches.

It also does a ton of damage. Fear level seems to go up faster from monsters than humans.

WTF? why would you not update the game? Hold off installing? It fixes issues with the game. It is not just a graphics update. Holy shit I just don't get it. Unless it's a hacked game I don't see the point of avoiding patches.

Patches fix things (hopefully without breaking something else). I have had no broken things that I have encountered yet, not any real bugs. So, I will wait and see from other users what the effects are, good and bad.

Think about it: How many times have patches forced instantly on you broken your game or made something worse until a new patch to fix that patch is released? They may be CDPR, but they are human, and this is really fast for two more patches released considering they took 7 extra months to hunt down bugs (according to them).

No, not a hacked game. It's from GOG, which i preordered in June, 2014. I play from my desktop. Remember the days before Steam and Origin and downloadable games? You got a chance to read about a patch, see what users said on forums, and then decided when to install.

Thanks, but I get quite enough of platforms from Steam Uplay and Origin. Patch rollback is not enough to get me to use yet another platform when my games from them have operated perfectly well over the years without it.

Fair enough. It is kind of annoying having so many platforms and I especially hate the way Uplay insists it should nest itself within Steam, update separately from Steam, have an account separate from Steam, patch your games separate from Steam... :banghead:

PhysXInfo.com: It was really a big surprise to see NVIDIA HairWorks utilizing DirectCompute API, while other NVIDIA hardware physics effects is typically exclusive to CUDA capable GPUs. What was the reasoning behind this decision?

Tae-Yong Kim: One of the goals of NVIDIA GameWorks is to solve hard visual computing problems in a way that balances implementation efficiency and time-to-market, runtime performance, and ease of integration. This requires choosing the right technologies, and sometimes that will lead to CUDA solutions, other times to DirectCompute, and other times to solutions using completely different approaches.

With NVIDIA HairWorks, the balance landed in favor of DirectCompute, partly because the simulation portion of the algorithm is a small part of overall runtime cost, which is dominated by rendering."

Which then got shifted back into the black box of GameWorks just to fuck users over with the overwhelming use of CUDA code and Tessellation to clog up even older Nvidia cards.

Signed the change.org petition. Mainly because this whole GameWorks and HairWorks fiasco is irritating me to all hell. I also thought TressFX in Tomb Raider was decent.

Also apparently I was wrong originally with GameWorks, in the fact that is it not open for optimization by game developers, so IT IS 100% up to Nvidia for optimization. So Nvidia can purposely screw over their users with Kepler and Fermi GPUs, which i think is load of horse shit. In contrast, TressFX is open for optimization by the game developers.

I'm supporting Nvidia big time right now by running 2 970s, but this kind of business practice makes me sick. I understand helping developers optimize code, or implement Nvidia specific technologies, but purposely bullying and locking out competition is deplorable. It's not just GameWorks, but PhysX and G-Sync. Meanwhile AMD makes TressFX and Freesync totally allowing Nvidia to take advantage of either. TressFX ran like crap on Nvidia initially but that was fixed within one driver update by Nvidia. AMD doesn't even have a chance to optimize. :/
