7930 to 7950 bios flash

Just wondering if anyone has tried this? Cards bios says ATI 7900 series ES... would it unlock the additional shaders to make it a full fledged 7950? For those that don't know this is basically a 7870 XT Tahiti with 3gigs of vram and a 384bit memory interface. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This kind of thing used to have some succes with the 69xx series. However i've never seen anyone succesfully unlock a 7950 to a 7970, or 290(non-x) to a 290x for that matter.

You can try if you feel confident that you could flash it back in case it doesn't work, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Does that one have a dual bios? If so you could give it a try and just make sure to backup your bios in both cases in case of a problem. Not sure if you can unlock anything but it depends on how the card was disabled.

Don't think so its a reference card best I can tell...I'll upload the bios and remove the cooler amd take some pics of the card/core.

Took another look at the card, it has a dual bios switch, setting 2 is that it was on when I got the card with clocks of 800/1250, setting 1 would not post( anyway to find out what setting 1 is??) Card has no writing on the core. Attached some pics and the bios file in .rar format.

I'll probably just leave it alone, it clocks well to 1100mhz on 1.075v...
