well i got somewhat similar HW to you though i have a gaming 7 instead of 5( and a Tt AIO)... i got mine randomly to 4.6 GHz @1.265v but the motherboard reports it as 1.272v .... i got turbo disabled,Uncore to 46, K OC on and left everything as it is
i cant take BIOS pics later if you want

the only voltage i changed was the vCore and left everything unchanged (Auto@default) and i got a Thermaltake water 3.0 extreme s [check lazarus in my system specs]
with the a/c on @24c ambient just ran WCG @100% load it gets around 67~70c and if @30c ambient it eventually reaches the 80c mark but i've yet to see it crash because of heat

I'm just trying to figure out all the stuff so I can push it farther. I mean under CPU-intensive games it caps out at 50c on 4.6/1.25v so I know there is headroom for higher clocks.

is your bios updated? I had the same issue when I was on the F3 version. Went to F5 and everything ran as needed.

Mine came originally with "F6" which was the latest when i bought it... but since you mentioned it i rechecked now and there is an "F7" released 2015/04/23 that "Supports Intel® 5th Generation Core™ Processor", don't know if i should update

Same here. My 4670k guzzles 1.3v for 4.3Ghz. I just kept it stock.

Damn only 1.18v , i guess i can start lowering voltage on mine and see how low i can get....

input voltage doesn't really affect much so long as its around 1.7 to 1.8v pushing it over 1.8 is fairly risky without adequate cooling
1.256 isn't awful my chip needs that for 4.4

I used 1.4v briefly to do a Heaven run at 5GHz (4790k) air cooling ... I dared not fire up Prime95 or LinPack, lol. I'm using 4.5 at 1.21v (idle) which jumps to 1.26v under load. I wish I knew how to stop that so I could just run 4.6 @ 1.27v without it jumping to 1.32v under load.

nice thread , well like many mentioned before, every chip may vary, of course, but to me personally whats the key are vcore and vccin, also set your voltage manually, not auto, for 4.6 1.2v i set in bios 1.185v (will go up 1.2v when stressing), vccin 1.7v (sugested between 0.4 - 0.6 above vcore), uncore 4.0 and vring 1.128 (its not stable below since i have full 4 slot ram totaling 24GB), 1.5v for dram., turned off turbo boost and enhanced turbo, everything else default, but yeah, its 32-34c ambient here (tropical country) max load 85c during stress test, no throttling, gaming 60c and video rendering never exceed 75c.

Only read OP, but typically the chips will be less stable at higher temps. I had to bump my voltages up 30mV when I moved ny rig to chile. Previously I had validated and stress tested at ~18c ambient while my room in chile is usually over 30c in the summer

I guess I'll hold off on pushing it any farther until I can balance out wanting to use water cooling like a H100i.

You did. A H110 is only about 4% better than your Deep Cool.

I had the same cooler on a 3930k OC'ed to 4.3 GHz at 1.32 volts crunching full load 24/7 ( @ThE_MaD_ShOt has it now). The 3930k ran right around the 75-80'c mark like that. I think you may have an 4790k with a less than perfect thermal interface. Prime candidate for delidding IMHO.

So far i managed to get mine to 1.22v down from 1.265v, didn't do a stress test but i did play an MMO for a few hours (FFXIV) and it seems running fine so far.....

to keep it steady you should apply the voltage manually while disabling turbo boost and the enhanced speedstep (somtimes called EIST in BIOS)

While it doesn't have a performance boost in cinebench, I can feel it in games.
