Your PSU is just fine, you are not going to put R9 290X or 980ti into this pc anyway.

BTW CX series is one of the worst from corsair, CS is so much better.

The thing is that build and those prices are not valid anymore. Now it ends up being about $450. Unless the budget has changed, here is an alternative with a slightly better GPU and MB

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor ($69.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: ASRock FM2A88X PRO3+ ATX FM2+ Motherboard ($57.55 @ Newegg)
Memory: Team Elite Plus 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($43.99 @ Newegg)

Would this be a more viable and better option?

I don't think so. The only better thing your build has is higher frequency ram but a smaller power supply. It should perform the same maybe a few fps better because of the ram (but that wont really matter).

The board and power supply i have used are better quality and the board has vrm heatsink and more phases. These kind of budget builds are really dependent on the offer at hand so the price is probably only valid for a day or two after it has been made. Currently you can even squeeze a 270x in the build. Here you go an even better build:

Most of the hardware in these builds don't ship to europe :( and that's the deciding factor. I don't really care about the promotions, as long as I can get them for a fair price (preferably in amazon since it's cheaper). For example, in your last build, I found everything but the GPU.

Wait you are in Europe? Which country? You mentioned us dollars in your first post so everyone assumed you are from us. Tell us the country and if possible a website of online retailers where we can look up the components available and the prices

Here is my suggestion for the build. Basically items are from UK so might as well check the shipping fee to your place.

I spanked a 212 Evo cooler same as mine as you can overclock the Athlon to 4Ghz+ to gain additional speed.

For PSU its a budget and rated and quality product from EVGA.

For GPU its the cheapest 270x on PC Partpicker UK. LOL

AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor - £55.03 (Scan.co.uk)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler - £24.97 (Amazon UK)
MSI A88X-G41 PC MATE ATX FM2+ Motherboard - £48.48 (Amazon UK)
Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory - £47.42 (Ebuyer)
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive - £46.60 (Amazon UK)
Gigabyte Radeon R9 270X 2GB WINDFORCE Video Card - £109.96 (CCL Computers)
NZXT Source 210 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case - £27.83 (Scan.co.uk)
EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply - £39.00 (Scan.co.uk(

Total: £399.29

Well... for countries that have adopted the euro as their currency, buying things from the UK is rarely worth it. The cheapest deals are in amazon, where everything is way cheaper. The only issue is that certain items (in most cases the gpu) do not cheap internationally.

Oh OK. Just try your best to have the best deal with your PC. As long as everything is compatible and within the suggested build and your choice then it would be fine.

After building your pc, post it back and share your experience. Cheers!

I sure will mate.
So just to leave you guys informed, I'm going with this build:
CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.70GHz
GPU: VTX3D Radeon R9 270X X-Edition 2GB GDDR5
PSU: Cooler Master B500 V2 500W
MOBO: MSI A88XM-E35
HDD: Western Digital 1TB Caviar Blue 7200rpm
RAM: Gskill 8GB Ripjaws 2x 4GB DDR3 1600Mh
CASE: Zalman T3 USB 3.0

It's by far the best build I could get for the price and I'm fairly satisfied.

That's a nice build. I would just recommend if possible to go for a bit better motherboard (especially if you plan to overclock the athlon down the line). For example this:

I would probably start with 1 4GB stick of ram as it is the simplest thing to upgrade later. AMD 750K offers same performance as 860K and might be cheaper. If you are even thinking about upgrading CPU in the future, go for intel, if not AMD should be little faster. R7 265 is much better than 260x.

BTW living in Europe sucks, corsair CSM450 would cost me 90$ here....
860k has 5 percent higher ipc and is easily 15 percent faster at stock than the 750k with 5 less watts... thats 80 percent better performance per watt.
