Well Thi´s the point,

Here, i got a R9 270x card, with a tipical flickering problem, then i saw on internet too many solutions, one of this solution is flashing the vbios, well, with my ignorance and my stupidity, i´ve locate this vbios "compatible" with mine:

Hi

ati_winflash_2.6.7:
That is not best practice; use atiflash at a DOS prompt

R9 270X 2GB works
vbios image that dose not match; stop trying this. [card is 4Gb according to the OP]

Edit: 271X05H0.O44 [Hynix ONLY] may be the reason the vga card blank screened on boot; on closer inspection the vbios listed in the TPU database as a 4Gb card shows 2Gb in bios image however it is 128kb and not [64kb UEFI Only] Note: {reported possible issue with description} Update: VBE7 reporting error; reports 4Gb image as 2Gb {nothing to do with vbios image}

Really need the original and or a copy of the original vbios image
Wait for Sapphire Tech support to send the correct vbios image assume you have included the following details when raising the ticket.
Sapphire R9 270X 4GB GDDR5
P/N 299-1E271-100SA
SKU 11217-07-20G
[are 100% sure this is correct SKU, please confirm]
[assume these numbers where taken from the back of the vga cards PCB]

Once have the correct vbios image for the vga card Flash at a DOS prompt, as per PM

Note: as on sapphire web site the only 270x 4Gb part is SKU ID: 11217-04 [is possible they sent this in error]
Source - here
Note: are able to zip the image that sapphire supplied and "Upload a File" here, this may help.

Hi

Thank you for attaching the vbios image from sapphire tech support, having now looked at the 64kb Vbios image I can confirm they have made a mistake.
Please refer to screen shot from the 64kb file 271x05h0_635539895871232760
271x05h0_635539895871232760.jpg

2Gb vbios image.jpg
The image shows that it is for a 2Gb vga card, this is why the vbios image will not work when flashed; (unless sapphire tech forgot to change the info, but that seems strange)

Note: as mentioned in previous post will need to wait for sapphire tech to send correct vbios image and or for another member of the TPU community to assist by uploading an image

Hi Law, and thanks for your support,

Hi

vga card details
Sapphire R9 270X 4GB GDDR5
P/N 299-1E271-100SA
SKU 11217-04-20G

If sent these details to sapphire; double check that they are correct, look on the back of the vga cards PCB for details.

Sapphire sent atiflash_635542543747664408.zip
cut N paste.jpg

Part Number 113-1E2711U-044.jpg
Note:
Vbios P/N number dose not match

for flashing UEFI it´s another proccedure?
Not as far as I am aware: *maybe check the sapphire web site to see what procedure they recommend for this card

Maybe time to flash the vga card with the vbios image that sapphire have supplied and raise an RMA or ask once again for the correct vbios image to be sent.

Glad I could help, regarding the flickering screen, this seems to be the lastest bios for that card, but in my pc the flickering-shaking still happens. This screen shacking is the same as when i manually underclocked my 4870 with ati tray tools (with auto-overclocking function) so I can pretty much confirm it's the core clock and memory clocks that jumping every time the pc need a little of the gpu.

I haven't tested yet, as the flickering isn't that frequently but this could be probably solved configuring the before mentioned auto-overclocking funtion of ati tray tools to somthing like:
"System Idle"
core 400
memory 450 (a bit more if you are using dual monitor and there are problems)
"Gaming mode"
core 1070
memory 1400

And white list every program you don't want it to change to "Gaming Mode" such as Firefox, Plugin Container (of firefox), Flash Player, etc

Hi guys,

sorry for replying to this rather old thread. But I believe the people involved in answering the OP are also able to help me with a very related problem/question:

I have the 2GB version of that Sapphire card. Can I install the 015.044xxxxx bios as well? Or do I have to stick with the 015.042xxxxxx version?
I know that the 44 version indicated that it is for 4GB model of the card.

But does that really matter? Rest of the card should be identical and maybe the new vBIOS has some tweaks for the card?!

well thanks!
i have the issue of GTAV sometimes crashing after a certain amount of playtime with a striped grey or blueish or redish screen.

what i want to know is just if there is anybody who has flashed the 2GB version of this sapphire card with any other vBIOS than the official ones.
so either the one for the 4GB version (which is newer) or also with a modded bios from somewhere else. and if that works out for them.

Do you have voltage adjustment on your card? Often just a little hike of voltage can solve some problems, I had some issues after prolonged 3D load with the odd crash so I slightly tweaked my voltage, although I modded my Bios to do it rather than just use MSI Afterburner but that was a personal choice and my problems disappeared, I was fortunate though as I have a software programmable voltage controller.

Hi thx for the reply.

You mean "hike" as in raise or as in lower the voltage? I am running at stock voltage at the moment. And for my version that seems to be 1.238V which is higher than many other stock cores of cards with the same chip.

Thanks, Are you sure it's 3D voltage is that high? that is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than even my 280X, seems a little strange to me. It's too risky flashing a Bios that has a different amount of VRam, what you could do is to take a look at that Bios though, make like for like comparisons with your own Bios, list the changes and then see if you can dump and Mod your existing Bios, of course you don't even know that will make any difference in any case though, I was going to suggest a single incremental voltage increase to see if that would sort your problem but not so sure now if that stock voltage really is that high.
