If you want to flash a ref 290 or 290x with a 390x BIOS modded for 4GB cards.

Before I flashed my two 290x gpus I would artifact with a clock setting of 1500MHz on my memory and my GPUs have delphi memory chips. I was able to run 3dMark without artifacting & my VRM temps seem a bit lower.

I would, but I am a bit tipsy, and trying to cook dinner, while also playing GTA and stuff. But it can be done, I have done it, and its not terrible hard, just use search "Ctrl+F" copy "Ctrl+C" and paste "Ctrl+V" to do the hard work.

The file is modded already so you just install it.

Clean the prev driver using DDU in safe mode and then unzip the modded driver to a folder and install.

So you installed the modded driver and it worked fine, eh? When I was still on my pc, I saw you running some 3DMark... How's it running for you?

Thanks but what ya use to clock the cards up?

I found a slight score increase but over all stability was compromised with this driver.

id run 1100/1500 and only get 18 and change, your 12 threaded monster must bump the physics score some what hey.

Just for shits and giggles has anyone tried this driver on the R9 290's?

I'm interested in the fps setting for lower over all power usage. I couldn't see why it wouldn't work. If I were home I'd give it a shot to see if it actually works but in the mean time has anyone?

i just use MSi afterburner to do that anyway.

For me overclocking with software tools is a mess. It's lower and less stable. There is NO WAY on this planet my HD7950 would clock at 1200/6400 using MSI Afterburner even though I can also overvolt VRAM. It just craps itself out constantly. But with modded BIOS, easily.

15.5.0 crazy low frame rate for me with 290x BIOS or modded 390x BIOS. Other drivers work fine.

A 4.8ghz run but Trixx fucked up and the 290X was at stock clocks and the 290 at 1100/1500 during this run.

driver is buggy as hell with my system, seems like the longer I use the driver, the rig starts acting like its close to blue screening but dont.

I've just modded the modded driver with UMD files from Cat 15.5 BETA and uploading it now. My line has crappy upload so it'll take a bit. But driver seems to work fine, also tested 1080p HD video and CPU load was 1%, so I guess DXVA is working fine (unless I'm missing something). I'll post link when fully uploaded...

Someone else fixed the INF, I've replaced the questionable files dedicated for video hardware acceleration. Based on prelimenary tests, HD videos play fine with nearly no CPU utilization.

IMO, modding is all good until it has to be done with drivers just to get expected results.

At that point it's the driver team's bad for letting unacceptable crap slip through.

Up until a month or two ago, my score was better than 90% of users. With an ancient HD7950 XD Now I've dropped to "just" 66% with a bit over 8000 points Gonna check my final score now with my highest ever OC...

Holy crap. The OC (and Cat 15.15 drivers) to 1200/7000 gave me almost 400 additional points. Before I scored tiny bit over 8000 and now it's almost 8400. Niiiice.

This is just 1000 points difference between my graphic card and GTX 970. Ugh!?

Second run and got 8402. Now that's more like it since it goes past a round number

I do not think there is any advantage running the 390x BIOS on a 290x from what I have tested so far. Maybe the 15.15 driver needs to mature because the modded 15.15 drivers blows chunks of silicon.
