Maxwell II BIOS Tweaker official download?

I found out that there is a tool for Maxwell 2 cards that allows BIOS reading/modification. And while I can find downloads all over the net, is there an official webpage or blog of this tool? I prefer to download directly from authors, but I can't find anything for this one...

It seems the author prefers to remain hidden for whatever reason, I ran into the same weird issue finding an official source. I do have the latest version of the tool *I* could find, if you want it. It came from a legit looking site and seems virus free in scans I ran, so... your call.

You'll also probably want a hacked nvflash that allows flashing modified bioses. I have that too.

Word of warning on the Maxwell tool though, the AMD ones were WAY less confusing. Feel free to PM me if you're lost, I have some guides that helped me I'd be happy to share. It's still a sort of mysterious process I don't think anyone properly understands, all the settings in that tool. The authors disappearance doesn't help I am sure.

Actually I only need it to read out the default ASUS Strix GTX 980 fan curve. MSI Afterburner throws in it's own stupid custom fan curve which is nothing like Strix has it. I'd like to just slightly alter the fan curve at lower RPM to still keep the 0dB idle mode and still keep it silent at load. Even at 50% fan speed it seems reasonably inaudible so that's a coolt hing to work with. Temps dropped dramatically so I can apply some OC through software. Not yet ready to fiddle with BIOS directly...

The way the Maxwell tool outputs the fan curve is odd. I'm not sure it will be very helpful to you. I'll show you a screenshot of my stock EVGA bios as an example:

They seem to be as best I can tell, trip points. Raising the 0 trip point starts it there, and scales it until it reaches the next one, and so on...

And yes, my EVGA idles completely until 60C... which is pretty dumb IMO. That's stock for you.

Shoot me your bios and I'll upload your fan curve if you want, like this screenshot.

I'm not sure of the legal status of the tool (reposting rights etc), but here's a handy guide I used to hack around with my bios and set a "fixed" clock:

I almost want a custom BIOS for my 780 so it'll have a better fan curve. Probably couldn't make it turn off the fans until a certain temp?

You could. You just would theoretically set the first RPM point to start at 0 and then scale up more aggresively from there.

I can try my hand at modding a bios if you just send it to me from GPU-Z... I'm fairly competent. No guarantees though obviously.

Oh, and that's a Kepler, but they have a tool for that too I think...

I used to modify my BIOSes myself with NiBiTor all the time. I would overclock my card, then I would go ahead and modify the BIOS myself with a higher minimum fan speed and higher clocks. Now, with my ASUS 660 TI DirectCU II, I only found a BIOS from an overclocked edition and flashed it to get higher clocks. I didn't edit anything. Unfortunately, even in ASUS' own tool, the fan profile thing in there doesn't seem to work for me. Now, NiBiTor, my once go-to application, seems to have gone the way of the dodo; and as you guys have pointed out all we have now is a number of various tools floating out in the wilderness with no real place to call 'home' (as TPU is to GPU-Z), and by their nature, at least to me, seem a bit dodgy. The added complexity and number of fields (just look at the Maxwell fan profiles!) I find myself looking at and having absolutely no idea what they are doesn't help, either. To top it all off you say the Maxwell Editor tool seems to have fallen off the face of the Earth, so combine that with the above and I get a rather grim feeling about all of it.

Maybe the Great W1zzard needs to start writing VGA BIOS editing tools. TPU: A name you can trust!

A thought occurs, however, that the reason for the obscurity shrouding the modern VGA BIOS editing tools (at least, for NVIDIA, not sure how it is at camp AMD) has to do with legality issues. Maybe NVIDIA doesn't like people messing with their BIOS and that's why there's no real home base for said tools.

tho i am not sure how to feel about that one ... since my 980 works flawlessly ... just the boost being 1634 permanent instead of 1499 is weird but i think i can live with it

and also the fact that they make it hard to find is to prevent, idiots and fools to get their hand on it and brick a card, and then blame the developer (and it's not even that hard to find ... less than 1 min on google @RejZoR ... )

I have no time to take on another project. If someone wants to work on it, I'll happily supply BIOS structure info. I'm thinking of a web-based version hosted on TPU, so some PHP/HTML/CSS coding skills are a must.
