I just ordered a new Viewsonic va1703wb to replace my 4:3 17" lcd samsung monitor.
I'm blown away by the widescreen experience on a 17" :D My 19" wscreen is kickass but 17" wide and still the same 1440x900 res was amazing. just the 8ms was a letdown, anyways the price makes it a good budget buy ;)
BUT, what I didn't have in that old 17" lcd was stuck pixels :wtf:
as when I make the whole screen black, a retarded blue pixel appears and stays constant. I'm running some pixel fixers apps, hope it works but any other ideas on how to fix this ? :)
thx in advance :toast:

If it's a stuck pixel, I've heard that you could gently push on it 5 times or so and it'll go away. I'd only suggest doing that if EVERYTHING else fails (since I don't want to be responsible for anything <_< )

theres not too many ways to fix a dead/stuck pixel. usually its a result of problems during manufacturing, problems during transportation, etc. i've never heard of the pushing method at all, so i can't vouch for its success rate.

If its really annoying, or if you have more dead pixels than allowed for the lcd manufacturer's quality control policy thingy, you should be able to rma it and hope for one w/ less/no stuck pixels.

A stuck pixel can sometimes be fixed by rubbing it GENTLY. I had a stuck pixel that I noticed on my brand new 20.1" LCD monitor. I gave it a little massage, and it was gone. A dead pixel is dead. A permanent black spot. That pixel is blue, so at least it isn't dead. You might have a chance to fix it. Might as well give it a shot. BUT BE GENTLE!

nope, the rubbing didn't quite work :( I'll run the Jscreen again as I have no other option...
if that doesn't work, there's only two choices for me-
1. get a new one, rma...
2. get a diff. monitor :|
I'll decide it by tomorrow :( until then Jscreen...

Goodluck, kind of sucks that a Viewsonic, great quality lcd maker, had this happen, but its probably 1 in 300 in happens to if not lower. Goodluck

meh, the shop I bought it from has some nice guys working in it. I'll just show them the annoying Blue pixel which always shows up when I turn the screen to black, and they would ask me if I'm 'really' having problems with it, and then they'll replace it with whatever 'monitor' I want with just the price balanced :) nice eh ? :)

I've decided to move over to Samsung syncmaster 940bw/941bw which has 4ms(fixes one of my problems), 19" and the same res and widey screen :D
linky here- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001088
so what do you think ?:) Is it good, is it better than the viewsonic va1703wb ?
i need opinions :)

only thing that makes me stay away from newegg in regards of lcd...is there dumb 7+ pixel policy...

I would just get it from the store...if it has dead pixels, you can right away exchange it.

My acer lcd had a dead pixel, and the store changed it with out any questions. Now take that up with newegg, and you gonna be rejected.

i could be wrong but for a little more i think this is a better monitor!!!!!!!

prolly a bit more costly but i don't need that 2ms, 5ms was enough for me and 940bw gives 4ms. quite suits me, but still thx :toast:

So you had noticeable ghosting in games for example?

quite yes...not that BAD ghosting but a lil ghosting, still playable but SUCKED when AA and AF were turned on :( imo 5ms is enough :)

Okay cool, I'll keep that in mind.
It makes you wonder about using a LCD TV for games, cause they normally only have 8ms.
