Maxtor external HDD and vista

sure they do, they're just a regular hdd in a box afaik, the 33mb connection from usb could make things slower pheraps
Well I "connected" my old 60gig HDD, but for the life of me I couldn't see a way to physically install it in my Aopen TOWER case....unless I removed the HDD cage, but even that looked impossible.
I'm not sure what you mean by the 33mb connection....is that the maximum date transfer speed even if the external and the mobo are both USB2...?

My WD 120gb one works well. I am puzzled though why vista wants to use ready boost. 120gb + readyboost = wtf 120gb ram!?!?

Absolutly NOT! Max = sucks. WD / Seagate = Best
I have a 160g WD HDD in my current PC, and it's 18months old,.... but in my neck of the woods, Maxtor seem like a good choice for externals+ they win on aesthetics
I'll report back once I buy it...but it may not be for a few weeks yet.

I tried installing my old 60gig HDD, but I had cables in the way.....my case is 5 yrs old and isn't space efficient despite it's size.
I spotted a 160g Maxtor USB2 external for $99AUD.....so I might just grab that for now.
Like a lot of people, I'm planning a massive upgrade later in the yr, but I'm waiting for improvements in Vista compatibility and also some DX10 games would be handy.
