My concern with free is that they sell your info. Most do its big business

Have you seen the interface on Norton? Basic in the extreme, so it can't be configured very much at all. Still, it's behaved itself very well over the last five years or so.

she need to go back to Kap for sure ... or try to convince her for another one ... like Avast Avira or Bitdefender or ESET NOD32 (as they never get borked unlike Kap :roll:

well i can speak for Avast and NOD32 at last) but surely not staying on Norton

seriously .... free sell your info, strange but i don't think Avast does it... tho it's kinda normal, nothing's for free in this world if it is for you, better someone else pay it for you.
just like advertising in "free apps"
tho even the paid one surely do that ... at last they are just greedy as the free devs... or even more.

Well I base that mainly on Kasperski let's you transfer your unused license to the next years version so they appear to have some ethics and care about retaining customers

10 years (3.650 Days) using Kaspersky and i have never had a problem with it, come on we all know that there's good Antivirus but there is not a perfect one, any Antivirus could fail.

Edit: Norton Antivirus?

never needed a such thing since i started to use Avast or encountered any problem with it (unlike other i tested) 24 years with it

(i use it since when it was ALWIL software )

In 1997, ALWIL Software licensed the Avast antivirus engine to McAfee for use in its own line of McAfee VirusScan antivirus products
funny .... ahahah ... and also now that Intel own MC ... oh well ... (at last the AV capability was good .... not the interface tho ... )

24yrs with Kap would translate in 240$ right? well for me it translate in 0 $, problems, viruses, whatever

i'm too lazy to read the replies, but show me a list where kaspersky loses (in a payware battle) & avast wins (in a free battle)

for years, kaspersky rules or trades ties with fsecure/nod32/bitdefender & avira rules or trades ties, avast consistently has NOT been at the top & the only people i personally know that use it are not computer geeks (which is why my bitcomet analogy is exactly what i mean, although bitcomet is much much worse broken software than merely second tier)

java is not javascript, why would i tell anyone to break every site

a few major sites use flash, sometimes half the time (soundcloud, potentially twitch since i hear they're rolling out html5 instead of launching at once), which is why firefox is nice with its 'ask to activate' feature
